The crazy part about managing tokens is you really gotta always keep your foot on the gas.
Second you take it off - people notice and move onto new things.
Constant game of musical chairs (no pun intended) - your job is to make sure people stay sitting in yours because they believe in the narrative of what it can become

We're at the part of the cycle where you start to seriously consider if its the top and if you've been able to make as much impact during the bull market as you thought you would.
Remember that Q1 2025 is going to be a pivotal quarter for crypto.
The question is can crypto break out of its current bubble and reach a net new demographic of users who have never been onchain before.
Thankfully - there's a lot more alignment in accomplishing this goal and more use cases and products that make this possible.
But make no mistake - it's up to us to make this happen and the length of this bull market is directly correlated to how hard we as a collective industry do the grunt work to get people here, and build meaningful enough things to get them to stay.

Spent the last few days in the desert starting at the stars and observing how all the dots connect together.
One of the outputs was maybe my favorite mix I've made this year.
75% of which are songs on @cooprecs
Kind regards

Best way to bring creators onchain is to not make them religious about the tech.
It’s by proving they can make more money than anywhere else.

Not sure how to best articulate this but when we see these massive wealth creation events like all these new airdrops it doesn't feel like your portfolio sees a massive uptick - more like its a rotation of everything else into the shiny new thing.
But you still get the feeling that you got something thats shiny and new which makes you want to keep playing the game even though as a net you're basically right where you were or in most cases even down from where you were last week.
Anyone else or just me?

What I've come to realize is that people on Twitter are mad no matter what
The tough part about the Zora OP retro airdrop situation is that its indicative of a wider problem that creators are not valued onchain by the wider crypto ecosystem.
Teams that are building for creators are struggling more than ever because its unclear how to build for the artist to fan relationship in a way that doesn't purely rely on speculation.
It's one thing for a creator who is extremely active onchain and has a deep knowledge of crypto to be successful - but many times that's just catering to earn from the other people who are already here and have disposable income to spend supporting someone who's been a part of the game for a while.
Fwiw I believe that @zora has made more impact for creators onchain in the last year than any other team in crypto.
And yet - they still are facing public backlash from minters (and creators) who feel they were wronged for not getting paid out more when Zora itself did not even receive the maximum allocation from the last OP Retro round.

The biggest challenge for onchain media is not actually getting the media/content onchain.
It's getting people to want to pay for it in a way that makes it sustainable for the platforms and curators bringing the content onchain to scale.
We have more demand than ever to put new music on @cooprecs - but we're limited by the total addressable size of people in crypto that have an interest in paying for it

NFT redemption arc is pretty wild.
Having trouble fully coming around to it and largely feels like a fever to airdrop farm ecosystem tokens but cool to watch.

If you believe in something - you need to put every ounce of your being into willing it into life.
No one is going to see it as clearly as you do.
No one is going to believe it as much as you do.
The journey is a constant reinforcement of what you're building today paired with a very clear north star of where you're going.

I truly believe there can be a world where token price is reflective of emotional sentiment and value outside of purely crypto-native circles.
Right now you can tell most token holders just want people to shill and pump their bags.
But the reality is this kind of behavior is exactly what makes crypto super offputting to the rest of the world.
To me the goal is to find better ways to draw information symmetry with the collective consciousness of the world in the absence of hard shilling or making it all about money.
Making holding something feel like you're a part of something that matters to you - not just to turn a quick profit.
There are things you can do to help with this onchain (staking, rev share, etc) but all those actions are really crypto-native and feel unrealistic to most normal people.
More just thinking out loud but think we need to find more ways to make holding something feel culturally significant vs just the $ value of what it represents in your wallet.

What I've come to realize is that in most cases I'd be better off just buying something and holding it vs trying to swing trade and sell the top.
Countless examples where my entry was perfect - but I paper handed 90% of the position on the way up and missed out on a pretty sizable winning trade.
Lesson there.

I think we've set an expectation that for creators to be successful onchain they need to be highly active in the space and pumping their bags always.
I'm not starting to believe that creating a bit of separation between the artist and their content actually might be the right way forward here.
Just like how when an artist puts a song out anyone can connect with it, but there's not an expectation of being able to have a direct 1:1 convo with them or for them to act like its the greatest things thats ever happened.
Still forming a stronger thesis here but I think there's a lot to be learned from reseting our expectations of how creators should need to move onchain for their work to be valued.

If you want something bad enough you gotta be willing to do literally anything and everything to make it happen.

Unichain coming up - more pro-crypto regulatory environment in 2025...
Heard rumors of UNI staking and fee switch magic.. excited to see where this goes!

For anyone building onchain tools to onboard creators - please make it as dead simple as possible for them to use it.
And I'm not talking about you making an onboarding flow easy - I'm talking about literally holding their hand through every step of the way or even doing it for them.
The single biggest reason we're able to get great talent on our label is that it's as easy as sending a song and a cover art. They don't need to know anything about crypto or care.
The art is the output, not the fact that the creator put it onchain.
Show them that there is money to be made from releasing their content onchain and their relationship with the space will immediately change from one of discomfort and fear to one of curiosity and interest

We're in a market where comparison can quickly lead to resentment.
Take a step back and focus on the life you've built around you.
Practice gratitude daily and be thankful for all the steps that lead you to be in this position to even be in the game in the first place.
The routines you follow every day are actually where true happiness exists - not in the number next to your portfolio.

Keep your head down stay in your lane and wait for your time to come.
Easy to get caught up in other people's wins and get on yourself for not catching it yourself.
Every missed opportunity is equally as much a lesson as catching a big wave.
Your biggest win will be from something you took the time, energy and care to create.
Not getting lucky on a 1000x gamble.

Whether its life, taxes or a rainy day - reminder that banking stables (and actually converting them to fiat) is extremely important in the midst of the endless money printer.
Looking at portfolio value is one thing, putting money in the bank is another.
