In disc golf there's a phrase: "Slow is smooth, smooth is far." But I wonder if this isn't just the application of other foundations? Isn't that almost the same thing as "slow and steady wins the race"? What about attachment, isn't it a bit like trying too hard sometimes gets in the way?
Third time pays for all. Beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetlejuice. Is there magic in threes? Because my wife and I are putting in our third offer for a house, I spent some time wondering about the etymology of 'third time's the charm'. One of the first mentions is found in Alexander Hislop's "Proverbs of Scotland". "The third time's lucky." Though since it's already a proverb at this time, I suspect it's much older.
The weird sisters, hand in hand,
Posters of the sea and land,
Thus do go about, about,
Thrice to thine and thrice to mine,
And thrice again to make up nine.
Peace, the charm's wound up.

One thing that's been painfully illustrated to me recently is that when you're too close to something, when you're too invested in a task or a hobby or a goal, it becomes harder. I'm not saying you can't try, trying is a prereq. There's something intangible when you're 'too close'. When you're thinking about outcomes too much. I think this really relates to the systems vs goals mindset, as well as attachment to outcome.
I guess if you're working on something and you're not progressing, just double check if you need to take a step back. It's the hardest thing for me to do, but I've often found it's what's needed for me to move forward. Best of luck.

Think about how fast most people got unimpressed with LLM's. Like we went from "this is the first time we've had chat that's indistinguishable from humans" to "my cursor prompt gets stuff wrong sometimes it's so shit"
Hit 1800 after a year of being stuck at 1700. Hope it lasts, but this is a huge milestone for me. 2000 here I come!
My wife has been obsessed with coloring lately, and it seems like it's a huge trend on insta etc. So I thought why not retrain an image model and see what happens? Here's a few of my favorites.
My first chess lesson in 2 years, trying to kill this 1700 plateau. We focused on smart middlegame plans and about being distracted less. It's stuff I 'know' but am not implementing properly. Can't wait to put it into practice!
Restarting chess lessons today, I've been stuck at 1700 for far too long. Almost a year, yikes! Here's to eventually breaking the plateau.
I don't think that I'm a particularly good 'creative' thinker. I tend to think in straight lines. Do you think this is a learnable trait?
A small reminder for all two of us active here: Jomez coverage restarts this weekend! Practice rounds have already dropped. DISC GOLF IS BACK BABY.
Just found out about this genre of games called PnP (print-and-play) where you're able to download and print the games with minimal components. Some of them look really fun!! https://www.reddit.com/r/printandplay/top/?t=all
Got out for a quick doubles round this last weekend at 50 degrees outside! Friend and I shot -14! Including a 60 some foot putt. For some reason taking long breaks makes me better??
As the years have passed I’ve come to realize the ultimate importance of marketing. Of attention, and of the ability to get attention when it’s needed. It, I’m beginning to believe, is actually the only thing of importance.
I don't share what I'm working on all the time. However, I'm very proud of what we're working on right now. https://nimgpt.com/small-business-is-beautiful/ Nim released this week, and we're excited for the future. I don't have a ton of you on here, but any amplification is helpful. If you want to test for free, let me know, and we can get it organized.
