Wanted to get coffee with my bro in the neighbourhood & thought of a nice cafe that accepted USDC during onchain summer.
It was good timing as he also complained about stupid bank verifications and I told him to finally get a non-custodial crypto wallet to avoid this BS. “Ok, if they don’t need more data”
Sent some USDC via text. He installed the Base app, clicked the link & got the USDC. “Shit, that was much easier than I thought.” Onboarded jealous girlfriend too right away.
Then we went to the cafe. He was excited to pay with crypto, joked with the cashier about paying with eth, asked everyone 3x if they don’t want some more, and when he finally had to pay - the guys in the store said “sry we don’t accept USDC anymore. It was just a summer special; the same 10 guys came a few times (guilty) & we got an iPad for trying it“
So, onboarding is dead simple; my friends got Eth & USDC but no use for it in the “real world”. They can now join the casino or wait for more apps & adoption🫠

The channel update was bad implemented, is a massive blocker & destroyed my engagement in channels I‘m interested in.
It leads to refocusing on the few channels you have access in (or just stop posting) but the beauty of Farcaster has been showing more facettes, exploring other channels, seeing good content and joining conversations. The main feed was never worth scrolling.
This change might pay off long term with better options to join channels and less spam in channels. Prob good to take some time off from Farcaster though & check back in in a few weeks.
Don‘t see a big growth push anyways, so will likely not miss any onboarding waves, maybe some super small internal games, project updates from degen or moxie.

Pls Discuss: Is a lack of traders on Farcaster the reason why Farcaster tokens don't correlate with token project developments? Do we need more Degens?
1️⃣ $higher channel & community improved a lot but price doesn't reflect that yet.
2️⃣ $degen managed to attract trader interest outside Farcaster during its runup, went through some overfarming & corrected but had recently good improvements (incl this channel) - yet the only major price action was due to a Coinbase listing.
(There could obviously also be more utiltiy for both tokens, yet that isn't exactly an issue with other tokens. They only care about attention.)

It‘s hard to bid on Farcaster tokens when it seems like the core team (and OG Farcasters) don’t try to grow the user base from this very small state.

🎩 do use cases outside FC
🎩 onboard users (if that adds value)
