Love this. Reminds me of my favorite line from the book “Impro” by Keith Johnstone: "I began to think of children not as immature adults, but of adults as atrophied children."
Observing Chia has helped me internalize the fact that worldchanging ideas will often be ignored for years. Therefore, there must be countless other brilliant solutions in the world we don't know about. Humanity still has many secret tricks up our sleeve. https://x.com/hoffmang/status/1866967867796885816
I wish everyone in crypto would think this way 💡
I think @nor is my new favorite thinker on Farcaster
In the future, do you think there will be more kinetic warfare than today, or less? If less, would that be because of greater peace, or because war itself will be less kinetic?
The velocity of innovation on here is incredible. Would be cool if there were a way to see which Farcaster users who you interact with have not yet gotten a @socialtoken airdrop (I have not! Hook me up!), since that would help token distribution better reflect the social graph.
We hosted a mini music festival at my house in Oakland on Saturday and it was ADORABLE
I only watched the first few minutes of this, but it looks like a very interesting medium for explaining the climate predicament to people... https://flowchart.bettercatastrophe.com/
It’s so confusing to me how bad most “I’m boosted” posts are. It’s like if a genie granted you three wishes and your first wish was “I wish everyone knew that I now only have two wishes left”
I’m super happy with the /climate channel. You are all consistently bringing high quality content, lots of signal, little noise. With the launch of channel memberships, the initial plan is: any non-member who would like to be a member should DM me an example of some climate-related post you have created. Maybe later we’ll try something more fancy. Also I made a banner image for the channel, hope you like it.
To help scratch your itch I recommend this theatrical production which will have a 6 week run at the Strand Theater next May-July. I’m biased because I co-wrote it and co-starred in the first 3 iterations. Tickets just went on sale: https://www.act-sf.org/whats-on/2024-25-season/co-founders/

Shout out to SHARKS for helping cut global aviation emissions by spending millions of years evolving skin that reduces drag, so this startup could copy that innovation and 3d print film we can wrap around all airplanes to reduce their fuel consumption. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-sleek-fuel-saving-airplanes-coated-with/id1621556928?i=1000668423491
Bingo. In the words of Bucky Fuller: "Specialization is in fact only a fancy form of slavery wherein the 'expert' is fooled into accepting a slavery by making him feel that he in turn is a socially and culturally preferred—ergo, highly secure—lifelong position."
There’s no rule that says we’ll make it. https://youtu.be/JD_iA7imAPs

$25k for non-profits who want to use AI for climate! Applications due Monday, but my friend is behind this so if you’re interested LMK and I can get you 2 extra days. https://baslangicnoktasi.org/en/ai-for-climate/
Neha is one of my favorite humans and we’ve lived together for the past few years while she honed these insights and built up this organization. Let’s reimagine what land even is!
Wow! TIL about web proofs. "Overnight, the addressable population of airdrop recipients has gone from a few million existing crypto users to the majority of the global population."
Nice explainer video about the state of gravity batteries. I love that a 5 year old could come up with this idea (it's just picking up blocks, putting them into boxes, and then taking them out again). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB39BISNt0s
Hanging with a $20m gold-plated woolly mammoth skeleton. Which is more obvious: A) I’m in Miami Beach B) I’m in the Anthropocene
Until now, crypto has presented its societal benefit in terms of who GAINS: Individuals, investors, artists, developers, etc. But so many people hate crypto. I think this framing may increase the stickiness of the narrative that it is all about gains for scammers and hackers. I wonder how public perception would shift if crypto spoke more in terms of who LOSES: banks, bureaucracies, middlemen, title insurance companies, oppressive regimes, etc? Would “going negative” catalyze a useful perspective shift?
A year ago, I told my friend Steph that I was working on vids about capitalism and she said she was too and sent me a rough cut of this for feedback. I love how it dismantles the capitalism vs socialism binary to synthesize something useful. (My vids coming soon!) https://x.com/liv_boeree/status/1821612368142401749
Kamala Harris follows just 722 people on X, and I am one of them. Knowing that I could just DM her and she actually might see it is making me ponder what message might be worth sending. It's a fun puzzle. Haven't solved it yet, so I guess I won't send anything. Yet.
