If the price of Bitcoin reaches $100,000, more than $3 billion in Bitcoin short trades will be liquidated.
A digital currency whale opened a $137 million long position on Bitcoin at an entry price of $96,629 and a liquidation price of $87,681.

The bitcoin price has plummeted under $77,000 per bitcoin, down more than 10% from its high of almost $90,000 last week. Ethereum, XRP, solana, dogecoin and other major coins have dropped even more sharply, taking the value wiped from the combined crypto market since January to $1.3 trillion.
On the 4-hour BTC/USD chart, the trend remains bullish, underpinned by a sequence of higher highs and higher lows. A micro-support zone at $94,000–$95,000, previously resistance, has now turned into support.
The daily BTC/USD chart reflects a strong bullish breakout from the earlier $74,000 to $84,000 consolidation zone. This breakout, followed by a surge to $97,470, is reinforced by increased buying volume, indicating robust market support.
Bitcoin traded between $96,869 and $97,057 over the last hour, maintaining a tight range near recent highs. With a 24-hour intraday range of $95,925 to $97,341, the leading cryptocurrency boasts a $1.92 trillion market capitalization and a 24-hour trading volume of $27.81 billion, signaling sustained investor interest.

It’s clear that Bitcoin might take its time reaching that $100k we’re still on track for some gains. The pace may be slower, but the potential is real. The market's playing by its own rules, but that’s part of the fun in this space, right? Hold tight, it’s going to be a wild ride!
I support the ability of applications to build on top of bitcoin, even though I also believe that much of this could have been avoided if bitcoin had been previously allowed to cook on its VM.
saying "this is not bitcoin" is an opinion that ignored that bitcoin is a blockchain whose length is extended by miners who include or filter transactions
this PR is a straightforward alignment of consensus that improves mempool propagation
I am fine with the options being left in the code, if only for backwards compatibility

Bitcoin is currently well supported and has reacted well to the $93,000 support area for the third time. If this support holds, expect a break of the $96,000 range.
Sell in May and Go Away? Not So Fast.
As we step into May 2025, this old market adage resurfaces but the numbers tell a different story. Historically, May has averaged a solid 7.94% positive return. Interestingly, it’s June and September that typically bring the only negative monthly averages, not May.
So before following the crowd, it's worth checking the data.

The Man Who Lost 8,000 BTC to a Landfill
In 2013, IT worker James Howells accidentally threw away an old hard drive in Wales
It wasn’t just any drive — it held the private keys to 8,000 Bitcoin, mined back when BTC was worth almost nothing
As Bitcoin’s price skyrocketed, that lost drive became worth over $500 million James spent years trying to get permission to search the landfill, but local authorities refused every time
His story became a legendary warning in crypto:
Not your keys, not your coins — and maybe don’t clean your desk too fast

BTC governance feels underdiscussed as a topic generally, probably to its long term advantage
These people cannot agree nor coordinate to save their lives and a larger number of invariably stupider cooks in the kitchen surely would not improve the situation

✨ The realized price of Bitcoin (for short-term holders) is now up about 58% year-to-date. In the previous market cycle, when this number reached 165% and 144%, Bitcoin approached the price peaks of $70,000 and $100,000, and then heavy selling to take profits began.
✨ Now, if we want this ratio to increase from 58% to about 140% (i.e., grow another 82%), the price of Bitcoin would have to go from its current price of about $94,000 to about $171,000.
📌 Footnote: All models are wrong somewhere, but some of them really work..
