Discussing and discovering western classical music
A Shostakovich Fugue played by Daniil Trifonov and less than 1k views? Guess that qualifies as a hidden gem then...
Gotta go review my notes from reading The Noise of Time - a beautiful novel about the life of the composer.

One can never become non alive no matter how much societal environment want this, Beethoven liberates. Finally learning third movement of Waldestein Sonata by Beethoven, join me on my journey
I just lament that we don’t have recordings of other pianists in their process of creation while practicing. Much more interesting than a finished product

Never just never could this get boring. I am sure this was shared before but today against I kept listening, a very few reach Gould’s interpretation and Bernstein’s introduction is excellent to bring what it is all about to the wider audience

Day 5 learning and open sourcing Messiaen Vingt regards, Regards du Pere
Olivier Messiaen’s Regards du Père (Contemplation of the father) is a profound meditation on divine love and transcendence. The opening piece of Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus introduces the cycle with a solemn, reverent theme—rich in deep harmonies, resonant chords, and Messiaen’s signature use of color and rhythm.
This music invites us into a world where time feels suspended, where each note carries an eternity of devotion. The Father’s gaze is both tender and infinite, unfolding in waves of luminous sonorities and timeless stillness

just remember this name — Alexandra Dovgan. she is 17 years old. the most renowned pianists are coming to listen how she plays. it’s more than extraordinary, it’s like mozart’s reincarnation in woman.

This curated by Polyhymnia sound good, not amazing as albums on SACD-DSD but much better than the album of María Dueñas.

Every time I try to listen new Deutsche Grammophon albums, I'm amazed how bad these sound. Harsh, very unpleasant to listen.
I don't understand why they don't use the services from Polyhymnia.

That moment you finally figure out what that theme stuck in your head was... cause you can't shazam classical music just in your head, nor google any lyrics haha...

Day 2, practicing Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus By Messiaen
Tempo should be the beat of a heart and so it is now or almost, the power of
Regard du Pere
I am going to document it here if that is all right with you /classical channel
Today I felt as I am approaching the middle of the piece that Messiaen is exploring various constructs of creation, almost internal conversation with the deepest regions of the consciousness as above so below

RIP SOFIA GUBAIDULINA
she was one of the most innovative composers of our time, blending mystical depth, avant-garde techniques, and spiritual exploration in her music. her works pushed the boundaries of sound, making silence just as significant as the notes themselves. she remained true to her artistic vision despite challenges, leaving behind a legacy of profound and transcendent compositions.
and so, c major has arrived today for her.

We all love Bruch's first violin concert... yet until today I never had listened to the third.

saw lang lang at boston symphony orchestra last night.
but from a dads POV:
on the one hand: my 8yo fell asleep and missed the performance
however
on the other hand: lang lang just played my son to sleep
either way: phenomenal performance.

Not sure if I shared this before but Messiaen is fascinating, deeply spiritual, moving, both universe and human stories converge somehow.
This is excerpt from one of the 20 piano pieces from the series Vingt Regards Sur L'Enfant Jesus
I think it might be the right time to expand into more of the pieces and document in here

My favorite anime opening from 2024 was definitely Bling-Bang-Bang-Born by Creepy Nutz. Not only is the song a banger, but the anime is hilarious. If you ever wished Harry Potter was an anime…except everyone is a witch or wizard…except our main character. But who needs magic when you have muscles?

Ever since I listened to the Arpeggione by Schubert performed on guitar, I can't really get into any of the Cello performances anymore - they sound harsher compared to this (or the actual Arpeggione).
I even bought the sheet music, maybe some day I'll find a pianist to practice this with.
