Testing Windows 11 23H2 Performance With Star Citizen
For those of you unaware, the new 23H2 patch that came out for Windows 11 contains an update for the CPU scheduler that gives rather large performance gains for Ryzen CPUs. Specifically 5000-9000 era CPUs, and particularly the X3D ones. But I've seen reports that even Zen2 CPUs are getting boosts in some games.
So I wanted to test what the effect would be in my favorite game, /starcitizen, and did some light benchmarking before and after installing the 23H2 patch.
My system:
- 5800X3D, air cooled, stock
- 32GB DDR4 3600 CL18
- Radeon 7900GRE on 24.7.1 drivers
- NVME drive
The specs I tested at:
- 1280x720 (to take weight off GPU) and 2560x1440
- Vulkan renderer, Upscaling OFF (I play with this on, and it gives me close to the 720p performance, but left off for testing)
- All graphics options at highest settings

Fans of the classic Heroes of Might and Magic series, rejoice! A new installment titled Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has been officially announced. The upcoming game aims to capture the spirit of the original titles while introducing new elements.
Ubisoft outsourced the development (which is undoubtedly good news), and the development studio has assured fans that they are focusing primarily on the beloved 3rd and 5th part of the series.
It looks and sounds very promising, so keep your fingers crossed and let’s wait and see!

Fall Guys Invades Fortnite.
In an exciting crossover, Fall Guys is now part of Fortnite! Players can enjoy a new creative map within Fortnite, inspired by the whimsical and chaotic world of Fall Guys. This map features the classic Fall Guys obstacle courses, allowing players to compete in fun and frantic mini-games while showcasing their parkour skills.
Additionally, all participants can create their own obstacle courses in Creative Mode and UEFN. These masterpieces can be uploaded to Fortnite. The event will run until August 16, coinciding with the launch of update 31.00.

The PCI Riser Tester is a device specifically designed to test Risers.
The tester creates a load on 3.3V and 12V and shows the voltages on these lines, if the riser is faulty - the voltage will be over-voltage, under-voltage, or none at all. In some cases, a multimeter to check these lines may be useless - the increased voltage can only appear under load, and the multimeter does not create it.
If such voltage is applied to a video card, it will probably burn out, so before plugging an expensive video card into a slot, it is worth checking it with this tester.
This device has saved more than one video card and is highly recommended for miners of all sizes.
