Listening to Joseph Henrich on the Dwarkesh podcast. So many mind expanding concepts laid out. This is my third or fourth listen to it. Yes, it is that dense.
Top of mind for me today is the discussion about Albert Einstein being a patent clerk and a member of the”the Olympian Academy”. A group of him and his friends that got together and read fascinating publications of the time.
Time being relative and multiple dimensions were considered at that time. It was part of Einstein’s social learning and his own exceptionalities that lead him to Special and General Relativity theory and proving Brownian motion. Henri Poincaré came up with similar equations to Einstein but didn’t put it all together. Einstein being a patent clerk at the time had him thinking about trains and schedules.

Your Farcaster Casts are your CV (a 🧵)
When I get a notification that someone commented on my post and I don’t recognize the name/pfp, the first thing I do is scroll their profile.
I make a judgement in about 15 seconds and try to determine if I think you are an authentic account or a spammer/scammer/farmer.
Here are the things I look for:
1. Are you posting original content?
2. Is your profile mostly recasts and frames?
3. If you are casting to big channels (cough /itookaphoto /nature) do the photos look like you took them or are they stolen from Pinterest?
4. Are you casting to channels that generate a lot of spam? (I’m not going to throw shade at the channels in public)

I was able to spend 4 uninterrupted hours in my classroom today resetting the space. I searched every nook and cranny and collected half-finished, not submitted assignments. They will get the maximum number of possible points now when I do final grades. I can start the new trimester with a fresh slate and so can all of my students.
