q&a for building deep identity
my 2qq on this as someone who tried to get people to 'coin' posts about a year ago and has been mulling it over since:
for context, the aim of qbase is to use crypto incentives to drive valuable, unique social queries onchain, to become canonical foci for future discussion and research. users can pay a smol fee in $qq to coin a query, and will receive smol fees back whenever users choose to save their answers to their profile.
i flirted hard with the idea of flaunching a coin for each query, using fee splits, and pooling with the eco coin for some defi whirligig, but ive settled on a simple erc-721 for attribution. the content can and i think should derive its value within an app/eco, or as a lego.
creators should earn from their engagement — charging more to engage bc someone bought in before you feels counter to the nature of content tho. izho

speculation is fine (even good!), but _it must bridge a gap between fundamental sources and sinks_. Without a fundamental long-term sink, speculation chaotically bleeds to zero, every time.
If tokenized content is to work, someone has to do the hard work of designing a system with a real, large fundamental sink.

excited for @nillion mainnet 🤓
switched to nillion in qbaseV2 for privacy-enabled, decentralized storage, so your answers can be truly private
my first build was on polybase, which ditched deDB to become an L2 🙃 now thanks to ai, pmf for private storage has arrived

ngz, while i loove @jc4p's personality assessment frames, they shook my belief in the longevity of q&a as a methodology for social data collection. but after having played around with ai assessment a bit, im feeling pretty validated rn. you are so much more than your profile.

Frame pattern language: personality quiz
- no answering questions, instead analyze public social data
- create a nice visual artifact to mint
- shows you where you stand relative to your social connections
- personalized share mechanic to go viral

question for the overthinkers: what’s something that has helped you while you’re in a constant state of overthinking?
genuinely struggling atm and could use something more than “don’t think so much” or “stop overthinking and just do it” as advice.

missed this gamechanger. the biggest point of friction in onboarding is loading a wallet. with this you could reward newb users with tokens to build up to their first tx. cements my decision to use smart wallets

who was a pivotal person that changed the trajectory of your professional career?
for me it was my design mentor, David T, in boulder, who ultimately got me into google in SF via referral
who's your David T?
there is no /icebreaker without meeting him at my internship 🥲

gives me an idea for a new usecase 🤔
intent: im throwing a dinner party
flow:
- use @event to create the event, invite guests
- use DCs for chat
- pin qbase frame with 'dinner guest' quiz (would be better w mini app)
- users can answer qs or grant access to previous answers
- peasy

Community is all u need (3)
Pillar Stone of Onchain Community: Digital Identity
1). Stop putting real world kyc onchain for everything
One thing really bothered me this cycle is the trend to codify real world kyc onchain for dapps.
@july said: 90% of our lives are actually downstream of things we can't control: where & when we are born. People born w/ a higher ranked passport on henley index may never understand people who didn't get a nice passport at birth.
Yet the rest 10% we can control should matter more for our onchain lives: our efforts, our contribution to our communities, our actions, relationship built.
We don't need to put our address, phone number, country of residence when gets on devcon forum and started discussing how we collaborate to make the experience. We should not need those info for using every dapp onchain.

dev log:
worked out most of the bugs that popped up in the switch from hono to nextjs.
fyi some old frames have fallen into shadow due to the constraints of the nextjs approuter 😔
new app is up at qbase.tech
still need to add some stuff,
including og images, pull down to refresh, better react query (💜) control, and ability to see reply casts if the q comes from a cast. but feel free to try it out ☺️
next up is composer action...
