Steel System of Visibility

2024 July #001. The barren landscape stretched before us, studded with silhouettes of untold stories. What seemed a product of a world estranged was instead a genius locus of the known, transformed into the unfamiliar. Here, the assembly of peculiar sentinels stood, not as mere objects, but as the heralds of vision in this steel system we called our reality. The dunes bore the marks of a time when they were not so deserted. The shifting sands of human touch had given way, leaving behind a quiet that echoed through the metallic forms. These sculptures, large and enigmatic, appeared to survey the world through lens-like apertures—eyes that followed no movement but the slow dance of cosmic rays and shadows. Two of them faced each other, poised in silent conversation. Observers, listeners, perhaps guardians of a truth we could only guess at. Was it the secret mechanics of sight they guarded, or the intangible threads that bind observer to observed? Beneath their gaze, the soil bore a pitch-black emptiness—a void where not even light could escape. This absence of color was a stark canvas, etching out everything that stood above it. Yet, it was not just absence. It was potential; a wellspring for creativity where the seeds of new forms could one day take root, transforming the void into a nursery of innovation. The viewer was left to question: what does it mean to see, to perceive, in a world where the lines of form and function blur into riddles? These questions, the structures posited, were not to be feared but embraced as the very essence of our quest to understand the limits of our visibility, the frame of our perspective. The steel system of visibility was an ode to this inquiry, a celebration of the complexity and uncertainty that cascaded down the veiled slopes of cognition.

2024 May #008. Walls that whisper of times intertwined, a labyrinth built on the sands of the mind. Echoes of footsteps, both fierce and frail, narrate the silence, where words seem to fail. Through fractured prisms of history's gaze, memories ensnare in a dissonant haze. Foundations that crumble, yet stand ever vast, shadows of futures, born of the past. These corridors twist in a rhythm unkind, chasing the remnants that years left behind. Within every crevice, a story confined, mirages of moments that fate had designed. Hear the cadence of doors as they swing, bearing the weight of each sorrow and sin. A dance of dimensions, where lost spirits roam, trapped in the grandeur of this temporal dome. As light filters through the temporal sieve, we glimpse the potential that time might forgive. Structures of thought, breaking free from constraint, portraits of freedom, that patience can paint. Yet still we are bound by this architectural spell, infinite echoes in each silent cell. Seeking salvation through cracks of the bright, yearning to find windows into the night. Steel and stone, heart and bone, mirrored in echoes of the unknown. In architectural captivity, our spirits reside, time holds the key to the worlds it divides.

Window Shopping

“Window Shopping” // This image was born from bad luck and a little creativity. I parked my car on a street in Downtown Los Angeles to visit a friend. A few hours later I came out to discover my window had been smashed and a backpack stolen. Having your property smashed and stolen is truly a violating experience. But rather than get upset about it, my mind saw that shattered window and immediately saw an opportunity for a piece of art to be created. I wanted to reimagine the scene of the crime with a model thief during her night out on the town. She goes from car to car on a destructive window shopping spree pulling bags from luxury brands at every stop. This is my attempt at finding beauty in the broken and art in destruction.
