October 7th - Today, my body naturally woke me up for 6:29 AM Israel time on October 7th. I’m in Rome where it’s 1 hour earlier and I’m rarely awake at this time. The body remembers moments subconsciously even when the brain doesn’t. I’ll never forget 8,784 hours ago and I pray the 101 hostages still held in Gaza by Hamas will return home safe.
Israel was at the epicenter of the October 7th attack last year. But, the effects were felt all over the world. On the worst day of depravity - the single greatest loss of Jewish life since the Holocaust - Jews everywhere woke up to rising antisemitism in every corner of the globe.
We will never forget how the attacks of one year ago were celebrated and cheered on by people all over the world. We will never forget how Hamas terrorists acted with glee as they committed acts worst than we could imagine.
Today, one year later, Israel has not just every right but an imperative to defend itself against terrorism.
