Recently started a new twitter account. Not following anyone or using it but wanted to prevent someone else from claiming it.

Here are my notifications. 😂

Great show: American Primeval

Over the top Wild West drama. Almost Tarantino-esque. Portrays Bingham Young’s Mormons as villains on par with Nazis in Indiana Jones.
Told myself I need to post less negative stuff.

Here is a cute bunny.

One of the biggest blockchain dev educators on youtube is pivoting to AI. Says he's tired of waiting for crypto to be about more than gambling and scams.

With ya buddy.

Feeling Farcon FOMO. Hope everyone has a great time.
I really want to know how to make graphics like this. Any artists here think they can do it? Willing to pay.

My studio computer CPU has been overheating while I’m trying to finish songs.

Hopefully this will do the trick. Thing weighs as much as a cat. 😂

Was just reminded of one of my fav music docs. It’s a 2-part series and the other is on Krautrock. The geopolitical context is super fascinating.

Warning: they’ll make you want to buy vintage synthesizers 🎹💸

(My dad likes old cars and it was surprisingly cheap. Had engine problems, but we got it fixed & sold it for a profit 😌)

Anyone have a good solution for backing up gmail history? I want to be prepared for the worst.

Requirements:
- Can backup to Dropbox
- Everything stays encrypted
- App's permissions are limited to just reading (every service I've found asks for edit & delete)
For a long time, melody has been getting gradually supplanted by sound design (timbre) as a focus in music. The theory is melody is finite but timbre is infinite.

I think the root cause is tech accelerating creation & distribution, which makes the production of novelty more competitive. 🎶

Really inspired by this new Weval track. Banger but still musically sophisticated. Rave hit of the summer.

If anyone hasn't heard them, I highly recommend their whole catalog. Most of it is more chill & introspective.

This is head of the FCC, Brendan Carr.

He helped author Project 2025 and is against net neutrality. He’s wearing a gold Trump broach in the style of jewelry worn by political cults throughout history.

The FCC regulates virtually all communications in the USA.

Anyone know of good comparison of the pros and cons of UBI as a solution to job automation, as opposed to sovereign wealth funds?

I keep hearing very smart people only talk about UBI.
Can anyone recommend any books, essays, podcasts, etc that make the best case for why humanity needs AGI/ASI?

Why isn't narrow-intelligence AI good enough? Why go the next step to create intelligence more powerful than us?
A Dune dashboard showing how much of humanity's collective mental energy is spent thinking about each person, and how everyone ranks in wealth, philanthropy, empathy, psychopathy & narcissism. 😜
I keep getting reminded of this when learning about recent AI trends. Making me want to reread it.

TLDR is we have two types of thinking.
Type 1 - automatic, emotional, fast
Type 2 - methodical, logical, slow

Art & music tend to be better when the economy is bad. So we got that going for us…which is nice.

Great point I just heard:

The theory that tariffs will reshore manufacturing only works if companies have ironclad guarantees policies will remain consistent for years. Otherwise they're being asked to invest in Trump's dumb authoritarian whims.
Big silver lining to the engineered market crash is it’s reminding wealthy people how important a functioning democracy is.

Are people still claiming Google’s days might be numbered?

Finding myself using the AI overview above search results for most queries I would have asked Claude a few months ago and it currently has the best model.
ETH is hovering around the year the US was founded. I’m going long when it reaches the Magna Carta. 🤴
It's incredible how little journalists are questioning the narrative that tariffs will only create "short-term pain", as if reversing trends established over decades could be short-term process.
Dwarkesh Patel going from a college student living in obscurity to being one of the biggest names in AI discourse in ~4 years all via podcasting & blogging is wild.
