$hackathon
/weeklyhackathon139
Every thursday, at 23:59 UTC time, a cycle ends. 8 winners take all the pot. Which is made up from the clanker fees that $hackathon gathers during the last 7 days. CA: 0x3dF58A5737130FdC180D360dDd3EFBa34e5801cb

I’ll be an official judge for Base during BUIDLathon week at ETHDenver. I’ve judged over a dozen Base buildathons and hackathons—here’s a cheat sheet to stand out:
1. Use Cursor or another AI-powered IDE
2. Make it work first; design comes last
3. Execution is 10× more important than the idea
4. Working links always beat Figmas/YouTube demos
5. If you build something and can prove you've already gotten users before the buildathon ends, you’ve already beaten 99% of other teams
The biggest winners aren’t just those who take home prizes—they’re the ones who turn what they built into something real, something that makes money and gives them the freedom to live and work on their own terms.
Founder mode > Hacker mode.

amen. working with the big J is one of the highlights of my farcaster history
if there is a definition of based, he embodies it completely. amazing person. truly devoted to the craft. so cool to have him and @meb be part of this project
and if you want to participate: reach out. that's what open source is about

the first thought when I read first time about /weeklyhackathon was.. congrats, jp, you made it..
then, partipated and won the first edition, and we all realized that the judging system was not fair,
then, @jpfraneto.eth proposed to automate everything and let AI remove the human bias..
so, we went to agentic ethereum along with @meb and we brought the agents to life.. very proud of this, congrats team 💜
they are baby AI judges.. yeah, but they will grow and learn as we do (or faster) and the system is in its first iteration.. we already have many ideas.. ;)

36 hours ago i shipped for everything for agentic ethereum and all my devices went black -im in the middle of nowhere and internet and electricity is scarce- and now i just came back online to see that we passed to round two of judging!
at 12 pm est today we are presenting live to the judges

this will be our submission for the agentic ethereum hackathon: an autonomous system of 3 ai agents that judges and organizes PRs
each week you will be able to submit your favorite PR of that week
they will score it
and the top 8 will be rewarded with a % of the trading fees of $hackathon for that week

one of the top holders asked me yesterday:
"how are you feeling about $hackathon?"
more motivated than ever tbh. big things coming
one step backwards to give 3 forward

for the record: this idea has not been discussed with the team and maybe we won’t implement it
but it felt good to share because ideas feed themselves and maybe this will spark something in you that will be powerful

$hackathon update
we (me and two other farcaster builders that are blowing my mind) are participating on agentic ethereum - an online async hackathon that ends in ~8 days
creating the backend that will allow $hackathon to happen autonomously
for as long as the servers are on
what’s our mission?
create a system that consists of 3 agents -judges- that will organize submissions for a given week
the top 8 will receive a % of the trading fees of the token for that given week - programatically, without human intervention
submissions will be in the form of a Pull Request (PR)
the core unit of open source software
so hackers will have to choose their most valuable contribution of that given week to a given codebase
and our system will perpetuate the flywheel effect of having this token be the fuel that allows magic to unfold through the internet
stay tuned

with @moon.eth we had set up a very nice experience through the frame, with a live chat and voting that used merkle trees and all those fancy and secure things
but we couldn’t finish in time.
so i had to patch some things together and ship.
and things broke.
mistakes were made.
but the core idea is out on the world, and you get the point
all the trading fees of $hackathon are given away to the hackers that create a solution to the problem of that given week
think of this as a container that you can use as an excuse to sharpen your skills and learn how to use new tools
week two is out. don’t over complicate it. just ship something

there actually was a way to organize all the voting stuff into something that feels much more healthy in the long term:
proportionally based on the amount of votes each hacker got. it was so simple that i missed it, but it is what feels best. 25 farcaster users voted via frame, and here are the results:

when you arrange your preferences and then mint this nft, one of the metadata properties is votestring
this number represents the order on which you chose your winners for this week
each finalist has an index from 1 to 8. so with this 8 digit number -with each digit being different- we can construct your preference and then assign value to it based on the table if the second cast
your vote is onchain
and anyone can fetch that data to verify the results of the voting process
(please don’t take into account my order of votes. i minted when testing and it doesn’t represent my actual preference. but it is what it is lol. so @itsmide.eth, it is not that your project is the one i like the least. far from that)

i /really/ have a strong desire to go and work on the voting frame and ship it so that we can start going through this fun process. im completely excited about going through each one of your submissions and seeing the genious behind what you created
but this just happened. and oh boy it’s a swirling whirlwind of emotions. so i will go to spend some time with my family and sit with this and digest it and smile and rejoice and feel everything that comes as a consequence of this moment
im full of abundance, with joy, with creativity and with focus. and also with dark emotions. they are all present. they are all alive. and i sit with them all
so I will go now to spend time with my people and then head back to the office and ship
i won’t go to sleep today without the voting frame of $hackathon week-1 shipped

while i work on the voting process and farcaster frame for week-1 (will be deployed today before i go home to play with my daughter), and since moon had to take care of some irl stuff, one important piece of news:
the official guideline for week-2 is live:
https://github.com/weeklyhackathon/week-2
i will make my best to document everything that i do for my submission to this one (because im going to participate), so that anyone that has enough willingness to learn how to create things on their computer can do it. farcaster is a playground, and we can all learn how to use the tools that we have available as toys

today someone recommended this voting process, and that it was the best that we have come up with as humans. it is much easier to organize your preference like this that to assign arbitrary numbers to each person and compare through that
the hacker pass is not *necessary* to participate on the hackathon. the only thing that you need to do in order to successfully participate is submit this form with your submission

since this cast 👇🏼 i have been asking myself and receiving input from others:
how can this process be as fun and reliable and fair as possible?
and today i came up with an idea that feels like that
there are going to be 8 finalists
and on thursday at 23:59 a 30 minute show will start through our frame
where you will be able to see their pitches
and vote for them
based on the total amount of $hackathon you hold, you will be distributed “chips” or “points”
which you will allocate to each one of the 8 finalists
at the end of the 30 minutes, a script will sum the amount of chips that each one has
and the winner will be the one with more
wdyt? how would you do it? what would you change?
now the challenge becomes to choose the 8 finalists from their:
- github repo
- production ready link

so i just added this so that our wallet distributes 88889 of the token to the user's connected wallet in order for them to be able to mint their hacker pass

someone showed up on stream and we ended up coordinating for this person to build the backend of /weeklyhackathon, so that on thursday we can have a fun live experience when voting for the winner via farcaster frame. if you are not a dev, but want to see what people build, you can also participate. you don't need to understand how to code to see a person sharing with joy what they worked on, and sharing it with you. each participant of $hackathon will have to submit a 88 second video pitching their submission. it can be anything. but it needs to be an 88 second mp4 file. and then we can all vote (ofc the holders of $hackathon) and a winner can win and we send them the $ and then we can move on to the next week's challenge. its like an infinite flywheel of creativity just for the sake of it
if you are a frontend dev that wants to participate on $hackathon, team up with moon and cook up something for this week. i know you can do it. and i want to see what you end up creating

today i decided to add all the $hackathon that was sitting on the rewards wallet into a one sided LP
there are two big upsides of this:
1. we help the unfolding and health of the token by providing liquidity
2. we reduce the sell pressure of the winner of the hackathon, who probably would cash it out into eth right after receiving it, anyway
this mechanism allows us for the $hackathon to be transformed into WETH organically, as the token gets traded on the open market
