I went to lock in my next goal race, and it’s sold out. I might have to drop down to the 25K just to participate and be a part of the Kodiak Race weekend.
How do you cope with the end of a training block after a key race? Do you take time to recover and gradually build back up, or do you lock in your next race and immediately start another build to compound your fitness gains toward a new PR?
Ever fumbled the bag so badly it lives rent-free in your head to this day?
DONDA 2 day.
Been locked into training for the last 18 weeks. Came off marathon prep and rolled straight into this ultra block. The fitness is stacking, and I’m trying to carry that momentum into a faster 50K. But now I’m staring down the next move: do I send it harder at 50K, or go big and see what I’ve got at 50 miles?
This training blocks has been intense 17/18 weeks completed and ready for canyons 50k.
The true race isn’t to the finish line... it’s to the forefront of awareness. In the attention economy, victory belongs to those who can seize the moment and make it unforgettable.
Markets go down we run up.
Live more now.
Back to normal today, feels good to be out on the trails again. Marathon training was fun but I like to avoid the roads and cars.
Learning how to take days off when things don’t feel right.
Trying something new this training block and adding hill repeats into my routine. Today we did 4 x 3mins with an easy warmup and cooldown.
I went to a dark place yesterday. I decided I was going to enter the pain cave from the gun.
As we grow older, we come to realize that while friends may drift away, some bonds remain unbroken, effortlessly picking up right where they left off…even after years apart. I don’t know if everyone is lucky enough to experience such connections, but as I moved from city to city growing up, I gathered a treasure trove of memories and friendships along the way. Losing one of those irreplaceable friends cuts especially deep; it’s a painful reminder of moments lost and opportunities to share more time together. Sometimes, the ache of losing a cherished friend lingers even longer than the heartache of missing someone you see every day.
LA marathon week, any casters running this year?
It’s funny how so many of us live in the same city but only seem to hang out at conventions in other places.
This one time at Coachella, during a Radiohead set, the sassafras was coming on strong, and my friend was having a much more intense experience than I was. She looked me in the eyes, and without words, I knew she wanted out of the crowd. As we made our way out, the sassafras wave hit even harder, and we escaped just in time to melt into each other’s arms as the music took over our bodies. She went home to her partner after that night, but I still remember those moments like they were yesterday.
Blasting Kid A like it’s Y2K again, driving around the neighborhood with all the buds in a two-door Focus, crammed four wide in the back seat.
Just finished The Power of Moments. I’m in the middle of a rebrand for a company I originally branded 10 years ago, and this was a nice little reminder to break the script.
I've felt a lot stronger this training block... It's fun to do speed work during marathon training. With ultra training, I'm usually just running up and down mountains.
What would it take to motivate you to create a perfect moment?

Just realized the office treadmill can adjust to a 15% incline… time to get ready for canyons 50k.
Bet on yourself frens.
Just finished an intense fasted speed workout, and I think I tapped into some fat that had THC stored since 2007.
Blend in, gain trust, and reshape the system from within… true change comes from infiltration, not outrage.
If you have the chance to watch this documentary, don’t miss it. Max and his friends put together a great film about the buildup and the race.
My friends are informing me that the sugar babies and gold diggers are attending the Web3 networking events again… We must be back.
