LilyPad (my one and only frenpet) is dead! Say a prayer.
LilyPad struggled to stay alive the last few weeks, repeatedly not getting fed within the 3 days and barely coming back alive before the week.
But these lapses caught up, and he passed away a couple of days back.

Are channels on the path to being unbundled into a sufficiently decentralized version of discord?

One of the use cases I was excited for crypto: one account across all services.
But in reality, I have to connect/sign with my wallet everytime which is far worse UX than log into each service once and ask my browser to remember me. The latter just works.
Smart wallets/Passkeys help with this perhaps in the long run. But super annoying right now.

Two thoughts, not related.
1.
Annoying announcements are a feature. Unfollow if you don’t like. Or wait for a bit to see as people are learning the ropes. If things don’t change, unfollow.
Unfollowing channels is net good. It should help improve your home feed by capturing your revealed preferences more accurately.
I have been meaning to do this for some time, I am now using announcements to do this.

There has to be a request to join feature soon enough. Without that, even if we think channels need to be intentionally built - they miss discovery/serendipity.
World is lot more complex to not give a chance for some random high quality poster to be discovered by a channel owner because they forgot to ask or the owner missed seeing a request.
