because we didn't build Uglydoll in a community setting, there was no input on design... we placed Uglydoll on shelves and they sold very fast everywhere we placed them. Same for Bossy Bear. Sales was our feedback, and that is the same feedback we were responding to here, which lead us to submit 2 versions of the prop.

As an Art Toy and collectible producer with a long history in the industry, I can not even begin to explain how difficult of a process it is to get anything in front of the LOFT buyers and then have the clout and history to sit with the giants like Medicom Toy, Bandai JP and TOMY and show them something as quirky as nouns and have them take it seriously. This would be a huge missed opportunity for the Dao but also a big loss for builders like myself that would have our product adjacent to these conversations once the first rounds pass. If you have a NOUN please watch Davids Video with @toadyhawk.eth and @joshuafisher.eth and vote yes, if you are not sure or if this is not your area of expertise, please consider obtaining.
nouns is not a character brand - but a protocol with an art layer which can serve as an attractant.

I no longer attend trade shows for Uglydoll, we use reps + distributors.
Nouns has to earn the use of reps... they need to see you at 3M or so
(I would give it 3 years) so I would have to be on the ground at all trade shows, especially in Japan, US and Germany.

someone expressed disappointment that sofubi is not in the new prop, so I highlight here for clarity...as it is indeed in there: Nouns Sofubi will be at super festival and Tokyo Gift Fair to expose to proper retail buyers (and produced at our own expense, not part of the ask in our prop)

I produced the first small wave of plush on my own after the retailer expressed concern with the sofubi and bags that nouns was not “ours”.
The plush being crafted in uglydoll fur by the uglydoll designer settled worries/confusion, and the entire section performed well.
i had to fedex them to make it in time, can’t put 100 dolls on a container, cost just to make 100 at a time not viable/factory has minimum order quantity , did as a favor, have to order minimum fabric roll per color.

If it sold out so easily, I’m still not understanding why we have to fund so much for round 2 if it’s in such high demand..
BTW the nouns sofubi will be with us at all 3 Super Festivals

the vote has started! Thank you for your time, regardless. This prop is based on a design which sold out over a weekend (was supposed to last one month) at a higher rate than what Uglydoll sells at per this location, and if passed, will focus on Japan first, then Taiwan, Korea and USA after.
The goal isn't awareness, but for an increasing number of new people to draw nouns inwards into their daily life. We have done this with our own brands, just as other lifestyle character brands have, by using plush as a mechanism of discovery, leading the subconscious to the larger program. ⌐◨-◨
Sanrio is not in the toy business. The reason the plush is usually front and center is to create an opportunity for you to hold the brand in your hand and create a connection.

A good example of what a noun’s character brand shop would ultimately look like in Japan. It took Uamou about 10 years to earn this in culture and now lines wrap around the block in several countries. Our prop dreams to open such shelf space for other creators and bring as many new people.

Nouns: I like the original front page page. I wouldn’t touch a thing other than remove outdated links and replace them with a direct single click to where the community primarily resides. There can be a link to more detail in regards to the rabbit holes to go down, but that front page is so crucial. It says hello.
In 10 years Uamou went from zero to a competitor of Snoopy and Moomin, and may live as long. Uamou fans made the brand part of their lives, and it was all their doing, without pursuit of their attention- they line up in Comic-Con numbers around the world.

When growing a lifestyle character brand, in formative stages, “toys” (typically plush) function as a mechanism to make a connection while the program provides clarity that these aren’t collectibles, but a brand to make part of everyday life. The useful goods of high-quality solidify such.
the next version of our prop will make it clear that our specialty is taking something from zero on a piece of paper and taking on Hello Kitty with zero ads, no marketing, and without social media.

Hi everyone. My prop is not going to pass so I am collecting all the feedback and screen grabs / notes on camp, and will expand info for an updated version.
One eye-opener was many felt our past props were "not collaborative", and yet both the soft vinyl figure and the Hollywood prop were community driven and collaborations at every level...(on the nouns discord open to all to contribute / give notes, and with founders in meetings for an extended period)
so we will fill in such details and address most other concerns, other than the design (which is what is working best and they want more of asap) but we may be able to provide a look at the second one. I can try.
