Lately we've been working on two things:
1) Improving our iOS app,
2) Ensuring our feed covers close to all interesting Ethereum-related content that can be found on the Internet.
Some Kiwi OGs like the results so far. If you want to check out our iOS app, you can find the link to the Testflight below 👇

we've been complaining about Ethereum mobile UX for 2 years now, how it blocks mass adoption, makes dapp builders life bad and so on.
but it seems like we might've found some hope - described our story in a tweet

if there's one thing i learned while working on kiwi it's that building a product is 10% building a product and 90% debugging
does it always work like that?
does it always work like that?
How does FC Mini-App leaderboard work?
What is the app's position based on?
What is the app's position based on?
Okay so I was thinking how to talk about Kiwi once we did this pivot back to our roots.
I prepared some rough draft.
Pls don’t tell Tim I shared it on FC because I haven’t sent this draft to him before YOLO publishing it here.
Here’s the v0.1 idea for our story:

Embarrassed to say this but I feel like we‘re getting closer and closer to „the first day“ that we REALLY launch Kiwi News. Confused?
Two years ago, on here (!!), I launched Kiwi News. Full of hope and within a cohort of founders who now mostly have thrown in the towel.
While it was fun at first turned into a waking nightmare. For a long time after launch we didn‘t have our priorities straight. We thought we could do more, so we explored a huge space of features on our product. We had featuritis. At the same time our main product, the content feed, was bad. And there were many bugs…
The lesson was really painful when ETH crashed to zero (1600 USD) and our badly planned runway evaporated. You cannot build bad products in bad markets…
So we had to admit to ourselves that what we were doing wasn‘t working. That we were doing too much. And none of it well.
I think we‘ve now come around to this. Kiwi is now simpler. It‘s a news feed website with the most relevant crypto content.
Try it!

makes you think
Playing useful games,
winning useful prizes.
winning useful prizes.
the unspoken part here is:
we don't have infinite devs, attention and capital.
if devs work on pump dot fun, they don't work on polymarket.
if attention is moved to memecoins, it's taken away from quality projects.
if vcs pump speculation-centric apps, they don't fund value generation-centric apps.

I actually think the growth of app layer is exactly the time that good social philosophy is needed *most*.
Analogy: imagine that C++ had been made by a totalitarian racist fascist. Would it be a worse language? Probably not. C++ is general purpose, there isn't much surface for bad social philosophy to wreck it (or good social philosophy to improve it).
Ethereum L1 is not quite in that position: someone who doesn't believe in decentralization would not add light clients, or FOCIL, or (good forms of) account abstraction; someone who doesn't mind energy waste would not spend half a decade moving to PoS... But the EVM opcodes might have been roughly the same either way. So Ethereum is perhaps 50% general-purpose.
Apps are ~80% special purpose. What apps you build depends heavily on what ideas you have of what ethereum apps (and ethereum as a whole) are there to do for the world. And so having good ideas on this topic out there becomes crucially important.

Bug report:
can't edit the description of my Start Pack. when i click edit it leads me to adding new members, when I add someone and click continue it just leaves the editor.

BBC Pidgin is my new fav Twitter profile
Went through 141 @gitcoin projects and composed a small list of Ethereum indie dapps.
Picked 5 projects I found interesting:
rolod0x by @aspiers
SafeNotes by @limes.eth
Commit by @rev
Impersonator by @apoorvlathey
and ofc Kiwi by @timdaub.eth and me
If you wanted to support these projects on Gitcoin, I share a link to the list. You can add all them to your cart with one click.

What if Trump is not dumb or crazy but just feverishly navigating an inaccurate map of the world?
Like Disney producing woke movies no one wants to watch.
Putin thinking he can conquer Ukraine in 3 days.
Or Mao unintentionally starving millions of Chinese.

we might get poor but at least memes are good
If you're a fan of reindustrialization, recommend watching this documentary.
It's a few years old and still a very useful lens to look at the US manufacturing competing with Chinese.
