I'm writing up my LinkedIn article about the experience at SubjectiveNYC. I'm preparing to emcee tomorrow for my volunteer shift at WordPress Accessibility Day. And I'm plugging along with the Barbell Dressler surface pattern design course work called Repertoire.
I'm honored to have been curated into the Bliss Exhibition for SUBJECTIVE NYC's art festival next week. It's now available on Objkt, edition of 10 at 42 Tezos each. Here is an example of a complex repeat that I created as a historical pattern reproduction last year. I love it so much, and I ordered it on fabric and wrapping paper for myself. With the Repertoire course from Barbel Dressler, I'll advance my ability to create complex repeats with more speed and confidence.
I have been waiting for a year for this course to open. It is an investment, but I am certain that the skills I learn here in surface pattern design will catapult my portfolio forward enough to start licensing patterns with CONFIDENCE. Barbel Dressler has a certain teaching style I resonate with. I'll be using brush on paper and layers of tracing papers, vectorizing by scanning in hand-drawn art, and mastering the art of a professional complex repeat design such as the Damask or trailing floral.
