Had a friend see how much I've "earned" from Farcaster wanted to know more and tap in.
In talking with him it was really important to clarify that 95%+ of those earnings came from early airdrops over a year ago.
There's a lot of creators who were previously really into crypto when NFTs were cooking that have since fallen out of touch with the space (understandably so)
If someone were just getting started on Farcaster today - what advice would you give them to be in the best position to "earn" on here this coming year?

Some personal thoughts on bribery.
I have always lived in high-trust, high-functioning, rich countries. Low-level corruption is wasteful, and society can afford to pay well enough to keep officials mostly honest.
My grandparents survived social chaos and disorder, and abhorred the baser human instincts they witnessed. Like many (most) people, they resisted any hint of graft, despite being impoverished and falling behind those who gave in to temptation.
However.
Low-level bribery works better in low-trust, low-resourced countries. If the people delegate the government to pay officials more, that money disappears. Paying bribes in lieu of taxes can be optimal. As can, on the extreme, paying protection money to organized criminals, rather than to corrupt law enforcement.

They have more resources and talent to bring to bear on the problem(s) of gamable rewards, and are building in public. I expect they will succeed.
SassyHash Rewards will take an orthogonal approach, and not the one you might expect. (I don't think my project is thiccc enough for GG's diagrams to work.) But am excited to throw money at it, and take a unique shot on goal. SoonTM.

I will have a public leaderboard of the most read casts. I want to count, without recording who viewed it AND I want to de-duplicate the counter so one user can't game the leaderboard by clicking repeatedly.
Solution: one Redis hash that counts views per hash, gated by another collection of Redis sets which register whether a given FID has interacted with the cast yet.
The sets don't store the FID directly. Instead, they store salted hashes of the FIDs. See attached.

These used to be oases of true humans logging in to Warpcast daily, with nothing to gain from casting except mutual support and human connection. Remember /powermonday a place for honest, open discussion and sharing constructive ideas.
Meanwhile, @spindl has been scooping up all activity on Farcaster, permissionlessly delivering our interests to the highest bidder in the most high-tech attention markets ever designed.

I noticed from afar how passionate he seemed to be about me ("Art"), and sent back some good vibes across this sufficiently decentralized social network upon which no human, government, force of nature or quantum mathematical breakthrough could keep separate two people who really want to connect. Only the timeout failures of CRDT await Promise.all() loops.
It felt like I liked at least 69% of his casts. It felt like he must have liked at least 42% of my casts.

- a profit-maximizing producer would NOT lower the price just because there's more stuff
When Supercast made its product free, I asked myself, did he find a way to operate more lean? Or, is this a reaction to competitors? If neither, then it was because the marginal buyer ("growth") didn't want to pay the marginal price.
So, hiring the founder of a project that failed to grow, to grow, is many kinds of ⚠️❓ to me.

Eager to see new Coinbase Wallet (CBW) users in the feed! Some predictions (each of which can be falsified):
- CBW's first public integration with Farcaster feeds will have a Snapchain flavor to it.
- by the end of 2025, Warpcast will experiment with a badge for accounts created via CBW. Or perhaps inverse. A distinctive PFP badge for accounts created via WC
- WC will change/roll back this particular experiment within 3 months
- WC will include a user toggle to filter out CBW accounts that I don't follow
- the CBW social feed will get less "content" than NFT mints in CBW. Content creation is a higher-threshold activity than minting. "Content" is commenting+replying, whether slop or not. As distinguished from liking+sharing
- CBW will pioneer and introduce >3 new actions that make their way into Warpcast by Feb 1, 2026. Features include UI/UX in the client as well as onboarding steps, such as pre-loading a wallet with some kind of credits (most likely non-transferrable). Also user behaviors, ...cont
