decentralized acceleration

Feeling uninspired by the state of your country's politics?

Let me tell you about a small internet movement called d/acc

The internet is just 40 years old, and society's still catching up

It's mission is to accelerating offensive tech like AI's infinite knowledge, life extension, and human machine interfaces

While also accelerating defensive tech like blockchains, cryptography, decentralized systems, and cybersecurity

Goal → To build a future of prosperity for all, putting individuals above institutions
Part of what it means to build on permissionless and credibly neutral infrastructure is recognizing that projects that don’t share your values are inevitable.
Ethereum, Plurality, Network States

Three movements that inspire me. They want to use the internet to create prosperity & health on a global scale like never before

They begin with the premise that the internet has changed the world, connecting everyone in milliseconds. Given that, how can we rebuild societies?

Working on a project where I have to do a lot of cold outreach, so I’m offering to sign a message to prove my identity. Remember, we all have signing keys, cryptography is a powerful tool for verifying identities

Men lie, women lie, cryptography doesn’t

Etherscan makes it easy: etherscan.io/verifySig/258173
I'm just playing with the meme, but after hearing Audrey and Glen it's hard not to be inspired by their vision. However, the same can also be said about Balaji. Both movements excite me. They start with the idea that we now live in a world where technology can inform and coordinate us better, but also divide us

The network state movement sees technology as a way to exit current structures and unite those who agree on its positive uses, creating new societies

Plurality takes a different approach, aiming to use technology to unite existing populations by highlighting our similarities and surfacing more agreed upon information

I'm excited about both movements and their potential to create a more united future, so we can focus on improving lives globally without getting distracted by social issues
"Cryptography is truly special in the twenty-first century because cryptography is one of the very few fields where adversarial conflict continues to heavily favor the defender." - VB
“AI safety is about agents with IQ 150 trying to control agents with IQ 6,000, whereas cryptoeconomics is about agents with IQ 5 trying to control agents with IQ 150—problems that are certainly different, but the similarities are not to be scoffed at." - VB

Could Tailscale be considered d/acc adjacent?
Vitalik on 80k discussing d/acc and other things, some super interesting snippets in here

Does the ability of cheap destructive drones to take out larger more expensive military equipment & vehicles move the world in a more d/acc direction?
Are there any dashboards that track progress towards /dacc and /eacc?

Want to track the cost per kwh, cost per (q)token, etc.
Paul Buchheit summarizes the defensive wing of d/acc perfectly

What should the icon for this channel be?

I was going to generate something simple with Midjourney, but wanted to hear everyone's thoughts first.

Sharing here cause I think it's relevant, d/acc might be the memeable alternative

What are some of your favorite /dacc related projects?

Defensive or decentralized acceleration
If you haven't read @vitalik.eth's article on d/acc, I highly recommend checking it out: https://vitalik.eth.limo/general/2023/11/27/techno_optimism.html#dacc
What d/acc technologies is everybody most excited for / interested in? I feel pretty partial towards FHE
