Leading the new Web3 Digital Identity revolution.
Great post by @reroger91 . The Ethereum community needs collaborative efforts to standardize off-chain verifiable data on-chain. Also great to see the open source Iden3 protocol that powers @privadoid highlighted here. 😎

The problems in the European Digital Identity (EUDI)
EUDI as is today presents big problems and disregards criticism, warnings, and requests to review technical details, with results that harm the fairness of the system and the privacy of its participants, also limiting infrastructure security and scalability.

What are your thoughts on @ensdomains's Namechain announcement and its role/opportunities in the web3 identity space?
Interested in everyone's thoughts but tagging some folks I know are deep in the (identity) trenches. @mane @eulerlagrange.eth @humpty.eth @katzman

So many identity & reputation solutions so started breaking down the various dimensions on which one can compare them. Params such as
privacy
security
scalability
user control
decentralisation
Any standard frameworks one can refer? Or may be an identity trilemma (similar to the blockchain trilemma ) ?

Sad to see TBD go. This was a very bold bet by Jack Dorsey and Dan Buchner. Happily they are donating many of their cool artifacts to the Decentralized ID Foundation (DIF). https://www.cnbc.com/2024/11/08/jack-dorsey-dramatically-shutters-blocks-tbd-crypto-unit.html
One of my colleagues uncovered this - answer to an FAQ about an indian government identity solution (Digi Yatra) : enables seamless KYC & faster security checks on airports etc.
🐂 signs.

If you could easily spin up a Farcaster digital twin of your account would you prefer feeding your revealed self (scrape your cast history), or stated self (answer questions about your preferences)?
So many identity solutions launched in the last 2 years- hardly any took off. Know a few that shut down as well
The core reason i could figure out was building just the infra & not identifying business critical use cases of today where the infra will be used ( just the protocol not a client like warpcast)
Thoughts?

Yo! Thanks @thecap.eth for tuning me into this space! Excited to start sharing thoughts here as I ponder about where we want to take Basenames next.
For starters, check out this draft ENSIP I'm circulating right now. We're calling it Multiaddress Resolution: https://github.com/stevieraykatz/multiaddress-resolver/tree/main

Been away for a while. Not sure what happened with channels and permissions but they changed. I added some folks, who have been posting here regularly, to be mods in case I miss something. If anyone knows, let me know in the DMs how to I enable everyone to be able to post because I don't think we get too much spam.
Have you seen your non web3 friends care about bots & proof of humanity ?
Been speaking to my broader friend circle & while everyone's a bit on the edge due to gen AI, hardly any one think its a pressing problem to solve today..

What do you guys think about this approach of being use case first when defining a digital identity stack?
Imo so many protocol teams here but no one has really cracked a viral use case to get real adaption.
We are building this out so fascinating to see @vitalik.eth talk about this in parallel.

Spoke to @vitalik.eth recently in Edcon & his take on being use case first when thinking about identity stack was pretty neat.
Listing some down, would love if others can add more use cases:
-undercollateralised loans
- airdrop sybil
- dev recruitment

Yesterday we talked on X with @brantly.eth about our point of view on the identity stack.
In my opinion, reputation is part of identity stack that brantly.eth discussed at EthCC. I will explain in this thread 🧵

Defining one’s true self is not simple, maybe impossible. We express many different versions of a changing self
Digital identity must be able to create a new way of being in each moment

Probably not surprising to anyone, but irl events are the best proof of personhood.
One of the best identity talks I’ve heard this year that summarizes identity space so far, by @dcbuilder 👏
Upvote this issue so that the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI) includes the option for DIDs to be used in the Architectural Reference Framework (ARF). This is being promoted by the Decentralized Identity Foundation (DIF). Your upvote will go a long way to helping us! https://github.com/eu-digital-identity-wallet/eudi-doc-architecture-and-reference-framework/issues/278
Digital identity is about RESTORING REAL CONNECTIONS. We've outsourced our data to a few powerful 3rd parties and given up the primary relationship with customers.

If anyone is looking for an easy way to integrate ENS and allow their users to mint Subnames fully stored on Base chain this will help you.
Subs are fully functional, resolvable, unruggable and stored on Base.
Same repo will be used for OP and ARB subnames.

Our way of digitally connecting is broken
We identify with ourself as it exists through the eyes of others
Tune into your inner experience, not the way you’re externally perceived

We don't build identity systems to manage identities, but rather to manage relationships.
who do i know that has did/vc technical experience and is looking for work?
Blockchain gives us digital trust without intermediaries (= freedom). I don't need to provide my government ID or my "real" name (the one given to me by my parents) to establish trust because you can verify who I am in the digital environment through my on-chain activity

Wallets are a window into our identity. But they’re not our identity itself.
@tomu says in the comments, “I just hope that identity can track my 16 wallets”.
Having built many products in the identity space over 3 years I can confidently say, DIDs are the best proposition for digital identity.

we need to start thinking of wallets as our digital identity.
all the art and music we collect, all the communities we're part of ...
combine that with open social graphs like farcaster to find overlap with others and we have the foundation of 10x better consumer apps.

Curious to hear people's thoughts about Google and Apple wallets impending adoption of various forms of Digital Credentials directly in their native wallets. The Digital Credentials API demo at IIW a couple of weeks ago signals a change of course in my mind.
