Dinner with friends and tasting of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine.
A great discovery, a bit young but worth exploring 🍷

Sobremesa is a Spanish word that refers to the time spent sitting around the table and chatting after a meal, especially lunch or dinner. It’s a cultural tradition in many Spanish-speaking countries where people relax, talk, and enjoy each other’s company after eating, rather than rushing away.

Happy Friday Night FCers!
It’s being an insane week!
Retirement plans took a major hit!
Now we drink before we start feeling those tariffs on a daily!
ps> I like this cellar in Parker & Quinn but after today I need my usual extra dry Hendricks martinis 🍸

Prior to tariffs, Canada was the largest export market for US wines. Unfortunately, that is now changing. But it is an opportunity for Ontario winemakers.
Took part in a rum tasting session on 27 March, and it was a ride across the Caribbean and beyond.
From elegant Brazilian cachaça to bold Salvadoran high-ester rum, each bottle had a story—and a perfect pairing.
Here’s a thread of my top picks and impressions

Here’s an Oregon BLUEBERRY wine
Yes made from blueberries instead of grapes
It’s a bit effervescent with an intoxicating nose of crushed blueberries, tart and earthy.

That was a great "great french wines" tasting session. The Château-Neuf-du-Pape was really really good. But all others were too. My next favorite was this Gevrey-Chambertin followed by the Bandol.
How close to half an empty bottle of wine can you still pretend you only had 'one' glass?
found this in my suitcase, gift from the mother-in-law (pretty sure she grabbed more for the name than taste) 🍷
Going to work my way through all of these Spanish producers this/next year - they are all single estates that focus on very specific terroirs https://grandespagos.com/pagos-y-bodegas/
Though I rarely ever drink white, this one caught my eye https://www.decantalo.com/us/en/belondrade--lurton.html
The Ribera region is one of my favorites, so also very excited to try the Aalto 2021 https://vinonueva.com/products/aalto-ribera-del-duero-2021
Has anyone tried these or other Grandes Pagos wines?

Okay, I’m serious about this. Who’s in town for ETH Denver and wants to do a wine night?
We could rent out Noble Riot (wine bar, great selection) or I’d be down to host and byob 👀

At dinner last night, the sommelier swapped out our dessert wine pairing with a glass of ‘89 Chateau d’Yquem.

Whiskies tasting at my wine shop. 5 bottles, French, Irish, Japanese and two Scotch. Blends and single cask. Peated or not. All very good and interesting. Very intense aroma and very long in mouth. My fav was the Irish triple distilled and the Irish peated one.
