New parts are here for the bikepacking rig. Dropping some grams and flattening my gear ratio. This gets me to 1:1 in the easiest gear rather than 21:16. A bit better! All in, dropping a full pound with these swaps.

Geez, I love the look of molded carbon composite parts.
Scheming on my bikepacking setup in preparation for an upcoming trip. Got a batch of lighter components on order and working on a couple projects to get weight lower and more central on the rig, all while tinkering with the route.

Learned a ton on my first go, pumped to apply that experience and spend more time enjoying, less stressing.
This weekend’s combo:

Mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 & cheese 🧀

We tried to recreate an incredible appetizer we had at Humble Spirit on a recent trip to the Willamette Valley in Oregon.

Delicious and pretty darn close!
Ah, yes. The wet helmet from yesterday…
Thankful for bikes and their ability to connect 💚 happy riding this weekend! Stay safe out there
Great ride today! Easy pace made room for some incredible intros and good conversation. Feeling full

Today's combo doesn't come with an image, but rather, it's 2 excerpts I'd saved that I've been thinking about together lately:

"1. Conceptual artists are mystics rather than rationalists. They leap to conclusions that logic cannot reach.
2. Rational judgements repeat rational judgements.
3. Irrational judgements lead to new experience.
4. Formal art is essentially rational.
5. Irrational thoughts should be followed absolutely and logically."
— Sol LeWitt “Sentences for Conceptual Art” in O-9 magazine (New York, 1969)

&

"Humans often find value in balancing rational and irrational thought. Creativity, intuition, and even love often thrive on elements of 'irrationality' or things that defy strict logical rules. I can help interpret and engage with those ideas, even though my foundation is rooted in rational processes."
— GPT 4o-mini (2024)
My latest 42 layout.
My most recent update was moving numerals to the home row.
Still kinda getting used to it after a week but...
It's definitely faster and I'm no longer inadvertently ⌘+Qing apps when mistyping a 1 🫠

Good, steady squad out this evening for some subtle sunset chasing.
Not exactly all back together yet, but it all works and I didn’t ruin my electrical system!

The LED running lights in the new lenses really modernize the look. Pumped that the little indicator light for the aux lights toggle switch worked out too! Was afraid I might have burned up the tiny resistor and diode crammed in there trying to solder them to 16 gauge copper wire. That takes way more heat than I’m used to!
Tonight in the garage: replacing the old (twice restored!) lenses with a new and improved set.

So far, I’ve got the whole front bumper off which made removal of the old set much easier, but feels kinda wild. Sealed up the new set with extra silicone for good measure and worked on wiring for some new stealthy auxiliary lights.

Still hoping to get everything back together before the end of the weekend. We’ll see how that goes.

Such a cool idea.

My neighborhood growing up wasn’t very conducive to this kind of thing but I would have absolutely loved it. More of this! Start ‘em young!
A foggy solo Saturday through downtown
No work today, so you know I’m wrenchin’

Question for The Garage:
I’m trying to swap out an illuminated 3 wire switch with a 2 wire metal toggle for an aux light kit. Ground (black wire) is the one that’s made unnecessary, right?

My thinking is that ground would be needed to make the light work but isn’t needed to break the circuit.

Anyone have car accessory wiring experience?
Excited to check out the Manage channels page, but for now it's empty on my end.
¡Sentirse muy tropical este miércoles! Una combinación refrescante:

Ceviche flavored plantain chips & a can of coconut juice

First time trying these Zambos chips, very flavorful and exactly what I was craving, if a bit salty.
Tuesday night with a quick group and a good crosswind.
