Lil Grey is doing better and he’s going to the bathroom normally 🙏🏻 Today I also took him to the vet for his bloodwork checkup, and his results have improved!✨🫶🏻 They also removed some mats from his fur, especially around his back leg. It seems like he might have reduced feeling there because of the fracture which is probably why he stopped grooming that area.
Other than that, everything is going well! ❤️🩹
It's been a bit tricky giving him fluid therapy at home since he doesn’t like it😅 so sometimes I’ve had to take him to the vet for it. Funny enough, at the vet he doesn’t complain at all🙈 he even falls asleep sometimes!

Hey guys I had to take Lil Grey to the vet early today because I noticed he kept going to his litter box and I also saw a little blood in his urine 😿
The vet checked him and found that his little penis was very inflamed. They emptied his bladder to see if he was blocked, but thankfully he was able to pee (though there was still a little blood) It could be a urinary infection or just inflammation. They gave him anti-inflammatories and painkillers and now we have to wait 24 hours to see how he does.
If he’s still having problems tomorrow, they'll need to run a urine test.
Hopefully, it’s nothing more serious 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
For now, Lil Grey has been resting at home and slept all afternoon.

(1/2) Hey guys! I have an update on Lil Grey😸🐾 Today we saw the orthopedic specialist that the kidney doctor recommended. The vet said it’s best NOT to do surgery. The fracture is over a month old so fixing it now would be much harder, they’d have to break or cut the bone a bit to realign it and his leg would end up shorter.
But there’s more: the x-rays 🩻 showed that his bones look very transparent which suggests he has osteoporosis caused by his kidney disease😿 That makes the surgery even riskier, with no guarantee it would work. Considering his age and kidney issues, the vet thinks it’s best to leave the leg as it is. Especially since Lil Grey is managing just fine right now. He’s independent, moves around and with time, the pain should go away🙏🏻 In fact, the vet said he doesn’t seem to feel much in that area anymore.
So for now, we’ll just keep up with his kidney treatment and focus on giving him the best quality of life possible 🙏🏻🫶🏻🐾

Here I am giving Lil Grey his fluid therapy 🙈 I had to set up a mini vet station at home!🏠 It only takes about 15 minutes to give him the amount the vet prescribed, twice a week. As for the injection💉 I try to sneak it in while he’s sleeping so he doesn’t get too stressed 😸🙏🏻
Quick update: Today I took Lil Grey to the vet, just to check on his eyes 👀 and see how they're doing without the drops. Thankfully, they're looking pretty good and haven’t gotten worse😸🙏🏻 But he’s still getting a lot of eye gunk and sometimes they get watery, so for now he’ll be starting the eye drops again to help with that. Other than that he’s doing really well 🐾🫶🏻

Hey guys 👋🏻 today I took Lil Grey to the nephrologist😸🐾 For now he’ll continue with fluid therapy to support his kidneys and will keep getting erythropoietin injections💉 three times a week since he still has mild anemia. He’ll also need to take one pill a day 💊 but this time I’ll be doing the treatment at home, following the vet’s instructions. Of course he’ll stay on the same pain drops for his fractured leg.
The vet also recommended repeating the X-ray and taking him back to the traumatologist to check how his leg is healing and see if surgery might be possible once his kidney function improves a bit.
So, there’s still a long road ahead but luckily, his mood is great, he’s eating well, and he’s such an independent little guy 😸🙏🏻
Thank you to everyone who’s been thinking of Lil Grey and sending good wishes and prayers for his recovery🥺🙏🏻 It really means a lot💜💜💜

Lil Grey’s results just came in and he’s no longer anemic!🎉🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m beyond happy that all the effort has paid off. Even though his little leg is still broken, he’s adapted so well🥺 he’s been using his front paws more to get around and use the litter box. It’s amazing to see!💜 His kidney levels are still a bit high, but tomorrow the nephrologist will hopefully guide us on the next steps for his treatment.

Quick update: I took Lil Grey to the vet today and as soon as he realized where we were, he got kinda grumpy😅
It was just for his fluid therapy. I'm not sure yet when his last session will be, but it really helps keep him hydrated.
Other than that he's doing great!😸 At home, he's calm, eating well, and in good spirits🙏🏻
This coming Monday they'll do another blood test to check if his hemoglobin levels have gone up
and next Wednesday, he has an appointment with the nephrologist to see what treatment he'll continue with.

Quick update: Lil Grey is getting better! 🙏🏻 Today, they did blood tests and his hemoglobin and red blood cell levels have gone up but he’s still anemic, so he’ll continue with erythropoietin injections and vitamins. His kidney values have improved slightly, but he still needs fluid therapy.
Next Monday, they’ll repeat the tests to see if the anemia is gone🙏🏻 The good news is that he’s responding well to treatment and is in great spirits😸✨ he even wants to run, though he can only drag himself for now🙃 But he’s eating his renal food and drinking water, which is really important! 😸🐾

On Monday, they’ll run some tests to check if his hemoglobin has improved and if his kidney levels are better with the treatment. I’m sure they have because he’s full of energy, eating well and going to the bathroom normally😸🙏🏻 There’s no doubt he’s doing much better now 💪🏻
On another note, a while ago, @plantsnft recommended River’s backpack to me. I tried to buy the same one but couldn’t find it😿 so I got a similar one on Amazon. I originally bought it for doing /catwalk with my cats, not for vet visits🙃 It took a month and a half to arrive, and by the time it did, Lil Grey had just recently fractured his leg. So I ended up using it to take him to the vet because it's much easier to put him in and take him out without hurting his injured leg. With the cat carrier, it was harder to get him out without causing pain. So in the end, the backpack found a different purpose! 😅

Quick update: I took Lil Grey for another fluid therapy session and his injection today. Hopefully, Friday will be his last one 🙏🏻 He finished his antibiotics yesterday😸 and so far, he's doing much better🫶🏻 He’s a lot stronger now💪🏻 though toward the end of his treatment, he really didn’t like taking his pills and started getting more aggressive about it 😅
He’s still on strict rest because of his fractured leg, but he’ll continue with pain meds and vitamins for now. In two weeks, we’ll repeat his blood tests to check his hemoglobin and kidney levels 😸🙏🏻
