For some reason, this picture evokes such strong associations with life. There is a physical peak of our health — and after that, it’s a matter of luck. Some decline more, others less, but physically, we are on a downward path, heading towards our disappearance from this beautiful planet. I’m really afraid of aging.

This photograph taken in late May, shows my brother Yura, an officer in the Ukrainian army. A shell landed just a few meters away from him, resulting in broken ribs, a concussion, and ruptured eardrums. The photo was taken about two months after his injury when we went to the village together
