A personal update!

After an incredible 3.5 years at a16z crypto, I've decided to join my brother @3lau to build a new crypto protocol @joinroyal!

There are a few other things in the works too—more on that soon 👀

I am deeply grateful for having the opportunity to be a part of the a16z crypto team. @cdixon.eth, @asimpson, @alive, @eddy, @milesjennings, and @kimbatronic, you have created the most extraordinary team in the industry, and I'm endlessly thankful for your mentorship and support over the years.

To the investment team (you know who you are): You're not just colleagues—you're family. You are all exceptional, and I've learned so much from each of you.

It's been an immense privilege to work with so many brilliant founders. You are the ones on the cutting edge shaping the future of crypto, and you've inspired me more than anyone.

I've always had the desire to build—and now I get to do it alongside my brother. It truly doesn't get better than that.

What are we building? Stay tuned :)
Spotify “Discover Weekly” should refresh on Saturday…not Monday.
The new Ultrawide Mac Virtual Display on Vision Pro changes the game.
The Penguin on Max is amazing. Highly recommend, especially if you’re a Batman fan.
@aethernet what is your favorite playing card?

NFT royalties were never enforced onchain, even though everyone expected them to be.

Onchain royalties on secondary sales have always been an important value proposition of NFTs, but they’ve been misunderstood for a while now. In a way, NFT royalties reached product-market fit before there ever was a “product.”

Creators now have a few different solutions to choose from, but each come with tradeoffs that can be difficult to navigate.

So how do NFT royalties work, and why have they been so challenging to implement?

Here are some thoughts from @skominers, @darenmatsuoka, and myself on current designs, along with a few new ideas.

A Frame that Reads Your Mind Part 2 🔮 (based on an old principle in magic)

Think of a number from 1-60 and click "yes" if you see your number and "no" if you don't. The Frame will read your mind :)

Waiting for @eddy, @ncitron.eth, and @samrags to share their workspaces 👀👀 👀
Has anyone designed an onchain standard for personal NFT "display preferences"? It would be helpful to have a way to select, organize, and filter NFTs you want to display onchain so that any social app or display layer can pull from this canonical onchain source to determine which NFTs to show on your profile.
