5yr wait to be assigned a family doctor, then once you are accepted you can book yearly checkups etc. until then you don’t have a family doctor you can call.
broadly I’d characterize it as people 35+ likely have a family doctor they can call for an appointment in 1-2 weeks, people under 35 likely don’t have a family doctor.
there are also same-day “walk-in” clinics but the system is a bit bizarre. basically you need to present yourself in-person at 7am to claim a spot for later in the day (e.g. 3pm) to see a GP. so in practice it’s essentially next day service, which means you will go to the ER for anything somewhat urgent (4-8hr wait time).

overall much better than nothing but sometimes worth considering if the service is worth nearly half your income.

most artists tend to be bad at making money or even (un)consciously avoid it. this seems counterintuitive but believe it or not, university art programs condition students to believe that they will be poor and deserve it. it’s truly bizarre once you gain some distance.
