Southeast Asia

/sea56

Everything Southeast Asia (SEA) as a place to share, learn, and create! 🌏

I created /chiangmai today to share everything Chiang Mai (CM) related. Most of what I've been sharing in /sea has been CM focused and it makes sense to have a @warpcast channel on a city level to help others discover info more easily and to allow each community to uniquely grow. A regional channel like /sea makes sense for info that applies across multiple countries.

The Destination Thailand Visa has to be applied for outside of Thailand.

A friend of a friend who advises nomads informed me that they've heard Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia all have quick processing times.
Thank you @v3naru for sharing the Thailand TH BUIDL community for everyone who's building in Thailand. I look forward to begin exploring. 🙏🏻🇹🇭

If you want to explore Thailand for up to 6 months this year around @devcon and all of the other events it's worth exploring the new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).

Hopefully I can convert to DTV because it launched after my trip started.

Made an exception for processed carbs today to try Thai "Kao soi" strongly encouraged by me from a local at my coworking space.

I forgot to take a picture until the end. I know where I'm going my next cheat day though.
Sharing a bookmark for myself to try "Bun Cha" in Vietnam from a recommendation given to me at lunch today.

Is this orange potential vegetable an acorn squash, some type of pumpkin, or something else?

I've been eating it for a few weeks and I want to figure out its nutrition content to see how starchy it is. It has the consistency mix between a sweet potato and avocado. Google Lens provided a few ideas.
I attempted to share a thoughtful self intro to the coworking space's Telegram I joined.

Got banned. Back to work. 🫠
To go/take out/take away = Gah ban

I've received and found 3 different ways to say this in the context of ordering food. I'm going to go with what my barista told me who I've been going to daily. Trust your local barista.

Fresh cut. The 1st haircut (6 USD) in a new city is a leap. Especially since I've been cutting my own hair for the past decade. I knew it'd be a success when I heard a good Chris Stapleton song playing and saw they offered tattoos.
Beef bone broth and bacon wrapped hot dogs
Not many of these around town in Chiang Mai.
I need to spend the time to figure out how the Thai QR payments work so I can start receiving credit card signup bonuses (SUBs) again.
Fresh air in the rainy season in Chiang Mai.

The cafe I wandered into today in Chiang Mai.
I've started to intentionally walk on the left side of the road to retrain my brain for Thailand.
Any Farangs here learning Thai? 👀🇹🇭
