To tip or not to tip in Southeast Asia...
After 6 months of living in /chiangmai and /bangkok I learned this week from a Thai and a Taiwanese friend that tipping is not a social norm in Southeast or East Asia.
1 of the friends strongly prefers travelers do not tip as to not change the cultural norm.
It's interesting to think about both sides of whether to tip or not.

I learned about CNA today, Singapore's publicly funded news network, similar to PBS (US) and BBC (UK). Their livestream is an interesting way to learn more about Asia.

Some species of dolphins, such as bottlenose dolphins, use sea sponges to protect their noses while foraging on the ocean floor. This allows them to avoid injury and find food efficiently, demonstrating their high level of intelligence and learning ability.
Pectra testnet is named Mekong!
“Mekong” is the name of the river that runs all the way from Tibet, through China, then spends most of its length through Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
That's 5 out of 11 countries of Southeast Asia. Perfect timing for @devcon SEA!

Living by the sea 🌊 is a dream for many, and it’s easy to see why. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore, the salty sea breeze 🌬️, and the endless horizon create a sense of calm and freedom. Whether you’re fishing 🎣, sailing ⛵, or just watching the sunset over the water, life by the sea feels like a permanent vacation. 🏖️🌅
South East Asia is home to a burgeoning community of builders and some of the most influential projects in Ethereum!

I created /chiangmai today to share everything Chiang Mai (CM) related. Most of what I've been sharing in /sea has been CM focused and it makes sense to have a @warpcast channel on a city level to help others discover info more easily and to allow each community to uniquely grow. A regional channel like /sea makes sense for info that applies across multiple countries.

Good afternoon Chiang Mai! 🪷
The Destination Thailand Visa has to be applied for outside of Thailand.
A friend of a friend who advises nomads informed me that they've heard Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia all have quick processing times.

If you want to explore Thailand for up to 6 months this year around @devcon and all of the other events it's worth exploring the new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).
Hopefully I can convert to DTV because it launched after my trip started.

Made an exception for processed carbs today to try Thai "Kao soi" strongly encouraged by me from a local at my coworking space.
I forgot to take a picture until the end. I know where I'm going my next cheat day though.

May you be blessed with blessings from above, the kind of blessings that makes everyone gape in awe.

Is this orange potential vegetable an acorn squash, some type of pumpkin, or something else?
I've been eating it for a few weeks and I want to figure out its nutrition content to see how starchy it is. It has the consistency mix between a sweet potato and avocado. Google Lens provided a few ideas.

I've received and found 3 different ways to say this in the context of ordering food. I'm going to go with what my barista told me who I've been going to daily. Trust your local barista.

Fresh cut. The 1st haircut (6 USD) in a new city is a leap. Especially since I've been cutting my own hair for the past decade. I knew it'd be a success when I heard a good Chris Stapleton song playing and saw they offered tattoos.

I need to spend the time to figure out how the Thai QR payments work so I can start receiving credit card signup bonuses (SUBs) again.
