Texas literally had the largest wildfire in recorded history just last year.
For people who live in the Austin area, wildfires are actually a fairly big concern. Bastrop had a bad forest fire just over a decade ago that many Texans still remember well.

Speaking of state chairs, I dunno if this happens any more, but we used to take school field trips every year to Huntsville, TX, where we'd get a somber lecture about Old Sparky and the Texas Department of Corrections (now called TDCJ).
It was kind of the highlight of the school year, as we'd always have another stop in Brenham, TX, home of "Blue Bell, the best ice cream in the country" 🎶

Roadtripped to Frisco for the first time this weekend. Notes:
🦫 Buc-ee’s was fun and delicious. A bit overhyped, but not their fault.
🍖 Brisket & ribs at Heavy Eight were excellent. Different from KC bbq, but wonderful.
