Week 1 Progress Update

Week 1 Progress Update What did you work on this week? What moved forward? What felt most clear or energized Started by going back the the original ideas. Taking it into gpt to work through how would I actually do this, what would the steps be. Straight away noting details that ai misinterprets and misunderstands so initially breaking the project down into its components. Then breaking those into steps, what do I need to learn skills wise, what software and tools would I need to know the name of. What concepts do I not understand enough? Eg difference between genuine generative ai music and platforms like bronze.ai - Raising questions of what is the mvp version of the idea and what is the best version of the idea? Also raises questions of why am I doing this? To learn? To be able to talk about it externally? To make something that makes senses for my career right now? Maybe the main idea I don’t have enough fans who would care? Importantly is this idea way to complex for the level of use it would get - the bit takes away from the scenes project was the hardest thing is to get eyes on it, marketing , social media, posting is more work than the project - me against the algorithm. Is this idea antemetic??? Maybe I need to pivot and if so I explored alternative ideas: I now have 3 options of things I would to build that explore the key themes of the SCENES PROJECT. 1.main idea Version that removes ai music, and focuses on connecting those with share memories, the networks of shared experience, can these connected people then communicate or are the connection just mapped on a globe to show the shared experiences. Combining real world memory submission into live show and fwb fest installation. Also into updating in real time nft for storage. Text of memory submission. appears on screen / html as overlay over scenes visuals. Challenges or Blockers Where are you feeling stuck, slowed down, or uncertain? Is there specific support (resources, feedback, mentorship) you could u Feeling a bit overwhelmed but the lack of coding knowledge and the expectations to be able to build on our own. Lots of use of tech / founder language , working systems and approaches that I’m not familiar with. (Notion, etc) Need to speak to people who have built things , coded , developers to sound out ideas with. To better understand what is realistic what are the hurdles. Initial ideation or mentorship would be useful. Speak to Dav, could he potentially come onboard with me and jade? Wins and Breakthroughs What small or large wins did you experience this week? Any unexpected breakthroughs — technical, creative, or strategic? INITIALLY I’ve started to see that I could create a generative model, but all the software and tools are foreign to me. The question is is this enough and will it take up too much time? To create the full idea not only needs lots of back end to create the different elements but it needs a site or app front end for users to want to be a be able to use it. Maybe I don’t need a submit page, maybe I make the music from the memeories I have and use a ai voice generator to make the talking voice of the memeories? Steps - Create all stems , label , categories Create generative model Collect audio memories from public Memory voice to text Memory text to emotional themes Catoragise or delineate emotional themes to music Text emotional themes to input type to generative music Output = music + layer on original voice note = unique memory with music = 30s-60s unique output for public user ?

Big up @bonfire for creating a home for some of my most important moments. It was slick, simple and perfect for world building in a space that never favoured that.

Just looking back at doing unique editions at 0.01 and selling 67 on @zora selling out songs on @sound-xyz and raising 3.5E using SOF token to fund SCENES.

It allowed me to create a world where I would take all the best parts of what I did and bring it together.

Thanks to everyone that collected and everyone that supported in this period and all the Real Friends x

Specials shouts to @malston for all the support along the way x
I’ve never felt more grateful that I focussed on emotional connection when being pushed to chase virality and speculation. So many tried to push SCENES in a different direction to chase trends, and we chose to stay true, and I was able to due to the support of all the SOF token holders and the executive producers @cxy @iamnick.eth @maarten

I owe crypto a huge thank you for believing in art even if over all it was short lived outside of the real ones still showing up for the right reasons.

It’s interesting to me that when crypto audiences lost interest ( but were the ones that helped make this happen) ,is the time that people outside that bubble are discovering it and becoming the ones interested in it. The buck has been passed back into the real world, it just takes a little longer than you expect when you focus on long term connections.

Over all we believed in what mattered and it’s finding the right people. The record of that will be here forever onchain

The last couple of weeks have reminded me that:

Most people don’t see your posts, even when they care.
Real connections often come from the “unsuccessful” content.
We’re all navigating broken systems, but the people do exist.
It’s the moments we almost fail that make the wins feel real.

Still love looking at my album gallery

To be able to pair the collaborative art fans created along side the music that inspired it .. is surprisingly still unique to creating onchain

MY NEW BOOK “SCENES: Prompts to Reflect” is a collection of 66 postcards designed to offer you a moment to pause and reflect. It’s available now!

A year ago I started the SCENES project that was crowdfunded onchain - it was a way to explore the relationship between memories and music by inviting people to share what mattered to them.

It began with a question: what is the emotional value of music?

The answer lies in its ability to attach itself to memories and sound track our lives, and with over 300 contributors from around the world we created a gallery of personal moments all turned into unique artworks all minted on @base as an archive

From that, this book was born.
Prompts to Reflect is a collection of moments, questions, and reflections — printed as a postcard book you can keep, share, or gift. Each page is an invitation to pause, breathe, and remember. To start a conversation with yourself or someone you love.

It was really cool to see a question I asked get unpacked in this episode. If you are a creator this whole series is really great. It’s straight to the point and honest and packed full of inspiration

A great little interview I wanted to share with some of the core artists and the team behind A Directory of Inspiration: a collection of case studies of music world building projects most of which used the blockchain as a creative tool to embed their identity in their output. Some great insights in here into collective releasing and the Directory its self features a selection the best music projects onchain ever, so many inspiring ideas in here and all in the artists voices.

This drop will be onchain soon, but for now you can collect on Metalabel, or grab the free second edition

Read all about it in the interview and hear about the process too.

Ft so many including @blackdave @laequis.eth dav Pete Rango, @cxy @thepark @callmelatasha @songcamp @tkthelegend @dutchyyy and many more

My feeling this morning is that there has never been a better time to build our own worlds, our own corners and curate our spaces and set the tone and ethos of the places we spend our time. In the end it always comes down to time. What do you spend it doing? What do you get from it? I am asking myself this a lot, especially when it comes to being online, and my feeling is today that I want to spend it in a health productive and supportive place.
