Poetry lives both at intent and at resonant reception.
Only one of those is already enough.

Same for art by the way.

View of Pippa Garner's β€œKar-Mann (Half Human Half Car)” (1969), which led to her expulsion from ArtCenter in 1969.

Garner studied Industrial Design at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena. She made a satirical prototype for her senior project that morphed into the lower half of a man urinating on the map of Detroit, home of such auto manufacturing giants as General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, all of which produced military vehicles for the Vietnam War.

I've been thinking about forced obsolescense and the need to contunually upgrade systems and interfaces. This is true for many types of digital art technologies but nowhere is it as fast and as apparent as with using AI tools for art. I recently stumbled onto (after literally 2 years of daily iteration) what felt like a perfect workflow. But two things happened. Em props (which I was using as my way to access stable diffusion easily) and Magnific (as my upscaler) both upgraded. I never imaged that an upscaler upgrading would so wildly change the final outcome/look of a piece. But for some reason the same flow I used before now looks like and ai oil painting and the nuanced, wonderful look I had before, is gone. I have tried many new settings to get back to my old look, but nothing has worked. So I have surrendered to the fact, that, due to these upgrades, that are out of my control, my series is now "complete." There are 30 works in the series. I easily could have made 50 or 75 or 100.

I’ve been exploring β€˜Vibe Coding’ over the past couple of years. Vibe… | Chris Follows

I’ve been exploring β€˜Vibe Coding’ over the past couple of years. Vibe Coding is an β€˜emerging approach to software development where instead of writing lines of code, you describe what you want and let AI do the heavy lifting’ I’m interested in how Vibe coding can enable a whole new generation of creatives to explore creative coding. So, I started exploring some use case examples with various different tools and platforms. I’m not a coder, but I learnt the basics of web development code many years ago, so I understand some of the principles of code, but not enough to jump into creative coding. I’ve also been interested in exploring generative art for the past few years, but p5.js code and processing was beyond my skill set and has always been out of my reach for me. I started using Chat GPT for coding but found Chat difficult to achieve the results I was looking for.   Over the past few months, I’ve been using Claude.ai by Anthropic, which really worked for me. It’s not always easy to prompt the exact code I’m looking for, it takes time and many various iterations as well as careful prompting, to get the result I’m happy with. I’m really interested to see how staff and students at UAL start to explore and integrate Vibe Coding across the disciplines. Will the relationship and barriers of entry into creative coding be reduced for traditionally β€˜non-coder’ staff and students. From a personal perspective, generative art was a natural next step and with Vibe Coding, I’ve unlocked a new level of creative coding arts practice, I could never have achieved without the use of an AI assistant. So, with this new level of generative art production, what do we do with all this new art? I’ve been exploring the new Web3 social media platforms such as zeroone and rodeo.club Web3 social media provides a new way to share creativity, that rewards sharing content through rewards through blockchain technologies. See new generative mesh paintings, created with the use of an AI assistant:   zeroone: https://lnkd.in/e75AYbEC  Rodeo: https://lnkd.in/emdg7_GD Vibe Coding can also be used for a lot more than generative art. There are lots of other new creative applications of ai assistants such as Ableton for music and Blender for creating 3d content to explore the potential impacts on creative education is huge.    I’ve also wanted to update my personal website for years, so used Claude to help upgrade my website:   See more about my arts practice here: https://lnkd.in/eVyn4MYW

I’m so excited. This summer I will be a teaching artist to summer camps all across Chicago, teaching photogrammetry, video synthesis/feedback, analog glitch techniques, and blender to campers. The end of the summer will culminate in rendered worlds in blender after lots of tinkering and exploration!

Been shifting up the gears with our volumetric video R&D, first time we'd captured a cyclist :}}

Really love the sound of the bike on the rollers alongside the volumetric capture, its like the noise from an old cinema projection room, the birth of a new volumetric cinematic experience.

After the success of our Venice Biennale 2024 AR experience, we started testing a new volumetric video pop up studio, using 8 x new Orbbec Femto Bolt depth cameras, with Depthkit volumetric video software by Evercoast (formally Scatter). After lots of trial and error we now have a stable and easy pop-up solution that we can build on for hopefully explore more with staff and students at University of the Arts London :}}

Yesterday, at the invitation of Professor Ana Pedrosa, I had the joy of giving a lecture in the subject Production and Dissemination of Knowledge in Art at the IHAC/Federal University of Bahia.

This photo shows part of the attentive class to whom I was able to present some of Grupo Poro's work and other solo projects of mine, addressing our urban interventions and the importance of publications for memory, dissemination and reflection on this artistic practice.
