dont die

what i'm more concerned about is all those longevity protocols holding their donations in the original token denomination.
Brilliant essay. Riffs perfectly with my previous longevity post too.

"it’s my guess that powerful AI could at least 10x the rate of these discoveries, giving us the next 50-100 years of biological progress in 5-10 years"

I agree with this guess.

Interesting read even though it states something (for me) blatantly obvious.

Biohacking et al can only get you so far.

I do a lot to optimize my health, but I know that at best they will give me a few extra years that might just be enough to reach the point where AI solves death for us.

Was on a run this morning listening to @bryanjohnson on Trevor Noah’s podcast

I learned he came from humble beginnings, that he can joke about the fact a lot of people are counting on him to randomly die in an ironic way for the memes, that one of his main “don’t die” missions is to keep his father in his 70s from dying (which after a quick search I realized his mother passed in 2013)

My critique of a space is usually proportional to the amount of exploitative hype and predatory misinformation around it. So I still have a lot of critiques and concerns with longevity as well as his approach, especially as someone who had started a startup in the space.

However, I do have a tiny bit of hope that Bryan’s ambitions go beyond himself and are in some part about helping others fight (if they have the resources to) against mainstream systems that would have them casually and perhaps without realizing it regularly harm their bodies.
Working on my VO2 Max. How long until I get it above 56?
Pro tip:

Every time you develop a condition with an entire internet sub community built around suffering from it

Treat it as aggressively, early, and from first principles are possible
Day six, home stretch! 🙌
Slept 10 hrs, sometimes ur body just know u need more sleep.

Now feeling energized. Go to gym soon

Best way to test how much sleep u need: sleep relatively early (for me is before 0:00 am), and wake up without an alarm clock: ur body wakes up when it gets enough sleep.

Some times when I have enough sleep I wake up myself at 6-7 am, when I got really tired for a while I slept 8-10 hrs for a few days then get back to early waking ups
Taking a long haul flight today:

- Took 10mg melatonin (Olly ultra strength sleep) at 3am local (after the served meal)
- Woke up at 9am local
- Did my usual morning routine (did 2x usual Vitamin D)
- Ate a meal with coffee

Let’s see if I can beat the jet lag.
have found a few interesting companies offering this

function health - https://www.functionhealth.com/
mito - https://mitohealth.com/
superpower - https://superpower.com/manifesto
I travel a lot for work and have to wonder. How do other travel warriors here handle jet lag? It absolutely wrecks any routine I try to maintain, both circadian and dietary. I also can’t even take all my supplements with me (too cumbersome, and some are temp-controlled).

Also curious about @bryanjohnson’s take on this (I’m sure he’s been asked this a million times, but seeing him fresh and awake at the recent Network State conference in Singapore made me wonder)
what are the best baseline health measurements to have and easiest way to get them before trying new diet, exercise, habits, etc?
Q4 quarterly 7-day water fast underway! 36 hours in and feeling good 🙂
Low glycemic rice is on the horizon. I didn’t know there was an International Rice Research Institute but I’m glad they’re cooking https://t.co/6Tvk5gyZA1
i notices co2 ppm increases in the bedroom though nights, what's the most effective way to reduce co2? Air purifier? which one?

open up window is out of the question.
I spent the night in a sleep clinic! 😴 💤

Have anybody else here ever done this? Please share your experience.
Mine was: only 5 and a half hours of very uncomfortable sleep with 29 sensors plugged to my body, plus breathing sensors on my nose. I wonder what exactly they'll be measuring under such different conditions from at home sleep. We'll find out in a couple of weeks,..

This is part of investigating how to turn my already kinda healthy life into a long high quality felling good life.
It’s a huge coordination failure that we don’t spend more resources on healthspan and immortality, let alone just health.
Interesting thread on treating age-related diseases vs. preventing aging:
https://x.com/lnuzhna/status/1840422812491923482?s=46

The author (Lada Nuzhna) is suggesting that trying to treat a complex age-related diseases by targeting a single mechanism is the wrong approach. But the problem is that combo treatments are more expensive and complicated and it’s harder to figure out which potential combos should be given a try.

But at the same time, the author still thinks that "single mechanisms in aging prevention (NOT treating age-related diseases) can and will work".
Was at the local Longevity chapter meet up and ran into…farcaster people!? 🫨

it was nice to meet you @profmccarthy @molbiomarie 🥰

and persiana and cassy who are not (yet) on fc 😏
For Asians, BMI >25 is considered obese.

Yet we still use BMI >30 broadly for all populations.

As the US population becomes more diverse, such nuance becomes vital. Obesity is just one glaring example amongst so many.
The best biohack to improve sleep is to buy a mosquito net.

Fuck mosquitoes.
Pecel sauce with tempeh penyet and …
Sleep has been my biggest thing for me, easier said than done, especially for my age.

Probably major factors to get sleep ‘right’:
- sleep alone, with eight sleep
- eat last meal early
- balancing playing sports at night with friends has been hard, I have been over strain consistently on my whoops.

All those 3 not been consistent, that’s my problem.
