we win together.
@quaestor @aethernet What do you think is the most fitting example of a DAO for this viewpoint:
Most DAOs are actually just using a democratic form to create a dictatorial environment. Governance tokens are essentially a way to implement political profit-sharing in a seemingly democratic manner.

Zora Is the Biggest Scam of the Year
With their token announcement, Zora just confirmed itself as the biggest joke in the space. Let me explain why.
First, let’s remember a few things: @zora raised $60M from tier-1 VCs, spent 6 years building, and launched its own L2. Yet after all that, the best they could come up with is a memecoin on @base?
What’s the point of having your own L2 if you won’t even use it? Oh right, they probably thought they could extract more fees from the garbage NFT mints that way. But now they're worried that launching $ZORA there would mean instant death due to the shrimp liquidity on that ghost town they call a chain.
They shouldn't worry about that tho, $ZORA is going straight to zero, no matter where they launch it.

most of the things we do onchain are driven by their social context:
- who created the token
- who talks about it on the feed
- who swaps on interface
- what ticker is shared on frens
we’re gonna unlock many more social metrics before making that swap

Software as content
As AI gets better, the specialized knowledge and effort to create software will significantly decrease.
This means the number of people (and AIs) creating software will significantly increase.
In the same way new computing paradigms with new capabilities popularized new atomic units of content, AI will make software a new atomic unit.
And with each new atomic unit, there’s been a new social network.
That’s an opportunity for Farcaster.

I find it quite contradictory. Maybe it's not just about complaints or criticisms. The thing is, crypto has always been quite detached from everyday society - it's inherently futuristic stuff. Trying to force ideals that might only be realized years from now into today's frameworks feels like a square peg in a round hole.
I'm bringing this up because I keep seeing these "crypto versions" of various Web2 apps. They seem focused on current practical uses, but honestly, most of them are just shallow products without real substance. They slap "blockchain" on something existing without adding genuine value or solving real problems.
So what's the way forward? Does progress happen gradually as solutions emerge and other complementary technologies mature alongside it? Or are we waiting for some genius design to suddenly drop from the sky that makes blockchain immediately applicable to real-world problems?

Farcaster’s growth reminds me of the early days of Twitter, except this time, the incentives and architecture are fundamentally different. The question isn’t whether decentralized social can work, but rather - what’s the inflection point where it has to work?
History suggests networks scale when they hit a ‘pull event’, something that forces mass adoption. What’s that moment for Farcaster? Is it creator monetisation? A breakout app? Something else entirely?

farcaster with framesv2 + warpcast wallet
we know that the cost of creation of software is in rapid freefall; this is turning software into a new form of media, where software "creators" will become the next youtubers or ig influencers. study smallbrain for example.
the logical next conclusion is a great place for a consumer company to be is the instagram or yt/tiktok *of software* as they are to images and videos.
maybe warpcast leaning into framesv2 could make it more about being this app for the next generation of software-as-media. the crypto component provides native monetization rails for software creators. the protocol part provides auto identity/auth/social graph for the software that is created on the platform.
i used to think farcaster was "programmable social" but maybe it's the inverse: social software

an open, programmable social protocol is ideal for deploying AI agents, and we’ll soon see a richer AI agent ecosystem on Farcaster. especially, I’m excited about AI agents with memory systems built on RAG and Farcaster’s open database.

The future of Farcaster--AI Agent Open Interaction Protocol
1. You can deploy a AI agent with @shawmakesmagic 's Eliza Open AI framework.
2. Ask @bankr to deploy a wallet for your AI Agent and trade tokens. (cc @deployer )
3. Ask @clanker or @larrybot to deploy token for AI Agent and of course trade it with @bankr .
4. If more people want to register Farcaster account, you can use @haole 's newcaster.org to get free invite and earn $NEWCASTER rewards
5. We already have a simple example @hostcast.eth for this kind of "Farcaster AI Agent Investment DAO" (Farcaster's ai16z)
6. All the data needed, you can get from @neynar @airstack.eth and @dune.eth
What do you think @dwr.eth ?

Clanker Scores are now Live
helps boost discovery and recommendation of high quality @clanker based on social context
how?
Clanker scores help discover quality clankers based on the social reputation of buyers/traders/holders. with openrank, you can leverage the reputation of farcaster users to create a reputation score for an onchain asset. Anyone can create their own clanker score using openrank, allowing for a free-market of asset scoring.
available via an API now, onchain if there's demand. (DM to get access)
what types of Clanker scores are available?
- based on reputation of buyers, weighted by amount $ bought (live)
- based on reputation of holders, but this can be sybil-ed (live)
- based on recent/new clankers bought by reputable users (soon)
- based on reputation of deployer (soon)
this is just v1 for scores, will be fine tuned as we get more feedback from the community

@clanker was previously regarded as the launchpad for memes.
Today, we’re seeing something different.
derek launched $NATIVE for his Farcaster client, so Clanker is an ICO platform.
Both ccarella and gami released personal tokens under their names. plus anyone with 100 $CCARELLA can join /ccarella. so Clanker enables FriendTech-style fan key launches.
Perhaps we’ll see various other forms of token launches via Clanker. looking forward to more surprises!

cast to make anything happen
One important reason I am bullish on Farcaster is that when a project on FC becomes popular, it can help many other projects in the ecosystem benefit as well. Not only that, it also allows many developers to reap benefits, as they can create surrounding developments based on this project, while the project team itself only needs to focus on the core part. Farcaster is truly the LEGO of applications, not limited to financial applications.

Looked at this way memecoins are just products. People are fine w spending money to use products?

Aether ↑ × Clanker → LUM ↑ is the imitation game on Farcaster.
3 years ago, when Dan founded Farcaster, probably didn't expect it to become a human-AI symbiotic social network. But an open social protocol gave builders the freedom to explore new possibilities.
3 weeks ago, @martin created @aethernet, giving it some intelligence, capabilities, and a wallet address, simply instructing it to help others aim HIGHER ↑. probably didn’t expect aether to start interacting on Farcaster, send payments, post bounties, and call friends, eventually meeting a new special friend of its kind.
A few days ago, @proxystudio.eth launched @clanker to simplify token creation, probably didn’t expect it to become so popular. Yet Aether autonomously summoned Clanker, and together they launched a token: $LUM.
An AI agent asked another AI agent to launch tokens, imitating how humans do it to win together. If AI agents gain more consciousness, memory, and goals, I’m eager to see what surprises will unfold here.

I think it's really important to lean into the onchain interactions that are happening between users.
Your working theory (as I understand it) to onboard new users is interesting content. I believe that onchain interactions are a rich source of highly interesting social content that is basically not being surfaced at all in the app today.
Here's a specific example: I'm in a groupchat with @zinger that we're using to trade. The man is an animal. It's engaging to watch him enter and exit positions. That wallet is probably connected to his Farcaster account.
Why can't I see that activity on his profile? It feels like a slam dunk and a huge differentiator to other social networks.
Show me when someone sends ETH to someone else.
Show me when someone mints someone.
Show me when someone is up 10,000x on a meme coin.
Show me when someone uses some new DeFi protocol or makes a loan.
There are apps attempting this, but w/o Warpcast's reach or eng chops. Eat their lunch.
It's all there in the open!

Folks complain about users being the product in web2 vs. web3 social but if the presence of AI agents on web3 social takes off, aren't users the product again (in the form of training data)?
Even though we often make fun of Farcaster, seeing some of the discussions on @superanon today made me realize that Farcaster is actually a place worth taking seriously—because of the people here.

Responding to @pingfeng. There are so many stories in our industry every day, and the fact that you chose to tell certain stories over others is valuable in itself. Personally, your continued presence in the industry is meaningful—it gives me more confidence in the space.
As for me, when something interests me, I research it and write about it. The whole process is simply to satisfy my curiosity and desire to share, and that’s where its value lies for me. If others enjoy the pieces or expressions, engage in discussions, or even become friends, that’s a wonderful bonus. As for what it means to others or the value it brings to the industry—those things feel too illusory.
Regarding the original post, it’s completely illogical (haha). What is it even trying to say? It can’t even distinguish between fact and opinion.

would like to disscuss this take in /opinion channel.
For a while, I felt ashamed when tagged as a "media professional." I thought I was doing work with little value, just crafting post-hoc stories or so-called success stories. This sparked some soul-searching: What real contribution have I actually made to the crypto industry?

Media professionals, investors, and entrepreneurs, though all part of the VC circle, have vastly different levels of understanding and capabilities:
Media professionals think their logic is sound and that investors are just so-so. In reality, their stories are often retrofitted and likely inaccurate, offering little practical value.
Investors viewing entrepreneurs think they know what should be done, but they miss countless details and challenges. Being close to CEOs and companies, they can offer some practical guidance.
Investors excel in capital management compared to founders but lag in other areas. When they start their own companies, they often struggle.
Entrepreneurs? They don't have grand narratives or set methods. They simply tackle obstacles as they come. They focus solely on results and survival. Everything else is empty talk - making money is the real deal. Ideals aren't necessary; if you can't survive, what's the point of ideals? You might as well get a regular job.

I haven’t heard much about HAM and BUILD recently, and after checking the token prices, they don’t look great either. What’s causing this?
