Dynamic Art

/dynamic-art143

Artworks on the blockchain set in motion that will evolve over time either autonomously or via intervention.

NFTs are alive!

MASS
by @crashblossom

I’d rather call it ‘protocol art’ then NFT, art living on a blockchain - it’s not just about the picture, the code is part of the art

MASS is a surveillance machine, recording every action its owners take on-chain and communicating them back to the group through changes in the compositions

The idea to degrade digital artwork came bc the obsession that art has to exist forever, onchain, etc, while nothing is forever. Destruction, transformation, regeneration are the way of the world.

Also I wanted to comment on the idea of (non-enforceable) royalties and market. What if art degrades when you trade it?
“Honest Work" is a dynamic onchain artwork in the form of endless todo lists by @0xfff

release April 22 📌✨

Interactive onchain-generated SVG. A tokens image grows indefinitely in height with every task that is completed.

get updates in on glitch released @fingerprints in /misha

read more about the dynamic mechanics of both the 1/1s and the mint edition on the project website https://glitch.mishaderidder.com/about

dynamic mechanics run on smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain and each transfer degrades the art automatically
'glitch' is dynamic conceptual blockchain art and an experiment in how to introduce degradation in a digital artwork. In this respect it is also a commentary on secondary market dynamics. It is intended to be fun and playful. The degradation is part of the artwork and an degraded artwork is still an artwork.
Art should always be free to mint*

*with 50% royalties on the first sale

Once I have more time, I need to index all dynamic collections and artists I can find. People have asked for it, and so far, I've always redirected them towards resources other than my own.
The dynamic genre has been slowly building up to become something of its own, with artists from different backgrounds focused on a common goal: developing an artistic language unique to the blockchain.

2024 will be a great year.
I'm delighted to release my latest dynamic series in collaboration with Fingerprints. They've been a fantastic home for my previous work, acquiring several pieces from SALT.

In 2021, I found a creative vein I'm still passionate about today. It's good to see how those early experiments have evolved.
Any good example of a blockchain artwork that is a pure gesture for the EVM?

Something that no one owns, not because it hasn’t been bought/transferred, but because there is no ownership field. Something that lives on the blockchain independently, even from the artist.
⚡️ and it’s /dynamic-art too

love the idea that you can sabotage other collectors pieces
NFT NYC meetup this year for /dynamic-art?
If you're a developer and a collector, there's a niche market for providing metadata refresh services for dynamic collections across marketplaces.

Artist pay a yearly fee, and in return, you ensure that their artworks are accurately represented.

*Side note: this is my personal definition. There are a lot of different definitions circulating by other artists, collectors and curators.

I think it's important to make it simple. In my experience, it manages to interest the general public best.

Why the launch of the /dynamic-art channel it would be important to come up with a historical timeline of dynamic artworks. I've seen some general ones for NFTs and /onchainart, but never for the dynamic artworks.

A lot of stuff out there deserves more attention.
