I haven't been super active here recently :(, but wanted to come back and announce our product rebrand

We're now market.dev

We're also expanding our product footprint and launching a new directory for developer ecosystems - we're calling it Explore: explore.market.dev

We'll be turning this into new type of marketplace for developer ecosystems - and in turn, a new way to drive sales for developers. Stay tuned for more updates on this.

2024 was the first year we started working on Gitwallet. It’s been a year full of listening, learning, and experimentation.

We shipped a TON of product and helped hundreds of developers set up shop on their path to independence.

Fun fact: that name came from an idea to create “an ethereum wallet for every repo”. The product changed but the name stuck (for now 😉)

Last month I started an code-along workshop series called PROGRAM. Each event is an active walkthrough of a software concept, framework or open source project.

In PROGRAM 01, 35+ people built their first AI agents together.

We just announced PROGRAM 02: CODEGRAPHS (Info and Link Below)👇

Are there any tokens that can track the value of the S&P500? Is this possible given limited trading hours? Would be interesting to emulate a traditional index onchain.

(Possibly a v stupid question)
Okay foodies what’s your frying pan of choice - looking to buy a new set this weekend

network states need diplomats
We created an easy way for you to find projects that are actively looking for contributions. This is based on tagged issues, activity, and available contributor guidelines.

Click on any ecosystem here: https://ecosystems.gitwallet.co.

Click on "Contribute to Projects" to see a list of projects that have open issues that are looking for contributors. Clicking the "Looking for Contributors" badge goes to their contributor guidelines.

Here's an example from the Django ecosystem. https://ecosystems.gitwallet.co/ecosystems/django/looking_for_contributors

Periodic reminder to /dev that /opensource exists and if you’re interested anyone can join.

My hypothesis is Farcaster is trending towards becoming a “social finance network” more so than a “decentralized social network”

Hypothesis is based solely on my feed, which is _mostly_ coin launches, nft stuff, bounties and general token talk these days.

All logically follows from having a wallet attached to your social identity, and money being the biggest crypto use case (so far)

I suppose this changes once the majority use case for crypto moves beyond money
Two Bsky features that really helped me bootstrap a great feed in first 2-3 days of using the app

- Starter packs - Account lists with a big “follow all” button, really helps bootstrap the interest graph

- Shared feeds - Kind of like starter packs, except I don’t have to follow accounts - just see the feed of the posts that I can pin to home (similar to channels in a sense, but readers decide who is in the feed)

Both are user generated, are first class citizens in the app, and can be discovered / shared easily
Gonna be posting on BSky a bit, as an experiment (also a nice break from so much token talk in the feed, lol).

Find me if you're there! https://bsky.app/profile/tarunsachdeva.bsky.social
How often does Warpcast refresh its og-image cache? Any way to force refresh it? @v
One of the projects I'm most excited about right now is Echo: An explorer for open source ecosystems. You can play with it here at ecosystems.gitwallet.co

It's an easy way to browse the projects and people in open source ecosystems. For example, here's the Farcaster ecosystem page:
https://ecosystems.gitwallet.co/ecosystems/farcaster

Would love feedback from folks here! Lots of work to do still but it's starting to look very promising!

(I would normally post this in /dev but not sure if that's more / less effective these days tbh)
I think private likes are a great idea on X

Changed the dynamic of the network but feels mostly net positive
FYI I’ve invited everyone who’s requested 🫡, pls check your channel notifications

New channel rules feel a bit strange to me and not sure they work with the ethos of what /opensource was created for.

I understand why these changes are happening, but not clear what (or if) to do next for us here. I don’t like the idea of gatekeeping posts.

If you are able to post, please share your idea. If you want to post your thoughts but can’t 😞, pls dm and I’ll add you as a member.

Pay someone what they want, regardless of what you have...doesn't even have to be on the same chain.
Okay in the spirit of launching early and often here’s another thing we’re working on at Gitwallet

It’s called Echo, and it’s a resource for improving discovery in open source ecosystems

What’s the best onboarding experience you’ve seen recently?

Excited to unveil my new thing: a platform for developers to launch & grow a business alongside an open source project.

It’s called Gitwallet, and you can try it now at www.gitwallet.co, and read the launch post here: https://blog.gitwallet.co.

nothing beats farcaster's builder community testing things out at warp speed
We're building a tool to help JS developers get a better sense of who's using their packages - anyone want to test it with an open source package they've created? Super useful if you're working on an SDK that integrates directly with some dapp frontend.

Please DM!

might be heresy but is there something that makes it easy to post across twitter, farcaster, and activitypub?
Just got a call from someone at the "Blockchain Security Department", lol
saw a MacLaren in my neighbours driveway

He saw me looking at it and yelled BITCOIN

love to see it

Any short story writers here interested in trying a new storytelling app to turn your narrative into a story universe using AI?

It’s a side project right now and we’re looking for some writers who want to experiment with AI media.

If you like building story universes this is definitely for you. Lmk!
I think this is great and feels directionally right, and would be super interested to see this how this works with channels - would assume a network wide rank + a channel specifc power rank could work together

What resources do maintainers use to find out who is actually using their OSS? Are there any opt-in tools that reveal some more info about actual end users/companies?
