Stated preference: I'm a realist

Revealed preference: an ever-growing, yet untouched Audible shelf

Wait have I been an optimist all along?! 🤔
Just needed to use PayPal for the first time in a blue moon and it made me reset my password.

I can't have a password longer than 20 characters?! What year is this?? 💩
"Mastery is the best goal because the rich can’t buy it, the impatient can’t rush it, the privileged can’t inherit it, and nobody can steal it. You can only earn it through hard work. Mastery is the ultimate status."

Feels like I'm reliving my childhood lately, everything is coming full circle!

First a Diggnation reboot, now a TWiT Reunion Episode with all of the OGs from back in the TechTV days!

I'll save you the math: 1000 once-weekly episodes = just shy of 20 years 👀

One way or another, the election will be over soon 😅
Radically candid feedback is the best kind of feedback
Day six, home stretch! 🙌
I don't care what the headlines say, 2024 has been a great year 🙂

Got a jump on my end of year personal and professional retrospectives today, so much to be grateful for!
Keep hearing "getting good results out of LLMs is a skill"

At the end of the day, it's just asking good questions.

This is nothing new -- the same applies to humans, and it has for hundreds of years. For some it comes naturally, and for others it requires deliberate practice.
ICYMI: our friends @ted and @nonlinear.eth dropped by to talk shop about the evolving onchain media distribution meta and whether or not speculation is a good thing.

Such a well-rounded discussion, enter it into canon!

Q4 quarterly 7-day water fast underway! 36 hours in and feeling good 🙂
Did you know: the term "podcast" was almost "netcast"

Around this time in 2006, Apple started asserting ownership over the words "pod" and "podcast", sparking community uproar and a search for alternatives.

One of my biggest onchain pet peeves: being asked to authenticate (SIWE) before I've expressed any sort of intent to warrant it.

Even worse: sites that initiate a SIWE transaction immediately on load, before I even know what I'm looking at.

Let me browse ffs! 😅
Executive Membership pays for itself, ezpz!

... WAIT HOW MUCH DID I SPEND AT COSTCO LAST YEAR?!?!?! 👀
Why Deno is pronounced "dee-no" is beyond me ???

We devs are bad at phonetics 😅

Always in the back of my mind from an engineering POV:

"Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should".

-- Jeff Goldblum, Jurrasic Park (1993)
yo I asked for my Tupperware back because I'm a collectoooor, def not because I'm cheap
Fun fact: podcasting is older than many/most people realize ⏳
20 years ago (September 18, 2004) the term "podcasting" as we know it today (to refer to broadcasting) entered the zeitgeist!

Around the same time, Google Trends started tracking usage and the first graphical podcasting client (iPodderX) was released.

In the same way "knowing what to Google" was half the battle for most of the 21st century, "knowing what questions to ask" is the post-LLM analog.

You don't know what you don't know.
Writing code is only part of the job (and in some ways, the least important!)

New podcast concept wyt?

Extending a formal invitation to all Dans to apply for consideration, host or guest 🫡
Well it started as a friendly mafia... but we emerged an unlikely ragtag podcasting gang 😜
