- @warpcast
- @icebreaker
- @askgina.eth
- @base
- @bracky
- @privy
- @zora
- @cura
- @splits
- @unofficial
presentations will be technical, focused on hard problems and how teams either solved them or are currently working through them; expect some presentations to showcase unsolved problems
see you there tonight: https://lu.ma/bxomr102
🪐
PS - we had a much higher volume of both event registrations and speaker applications than expected; apologies to everyone we couldn't accommodate, we used first come first serve approach in most cases 😢

for me, farcaster is the only social ~space that developers can build ~on. That energy is contagious
I wonder if wc ultimately becomes something that looks more like a social media-browser hybrid; give users a smart wallet which works seamlessly across frames etc..
that's probably where I'd take it anyway, not having thought about it nearly as much as i'm sure dan & co have

this cast has been living rent free in my head for the last half hour and i just can't decide if i'd be more impressed by him actually writing it or if he just rolled up to o3 and prompted it to make a don draper presentation monologue for using the term frame over mini app

This isn’t a link. It's not something you click through.
It’s a window. Something you look through.
It doesn’t take you somewhere else. It opens and lets the world in.
It brings things closer to you. Not out there, but right here. Where your friends already are. The people you care about. The things they make, and say, and share.
It’s not called a "mini app." It’s called a "Frame."
We frame things we love. To see them clearly. To set them apart. To remember them.
We frame things that are beautiful. And somehow it always makes them look a little better.
Because the frame is how we say: "this is something worth seeing."

I think for consumer apps it's almost impossible to get away from the superiority of the ad experience, unfortunately. Netflix is trending there too, fwiw

I think state expiry is a mistake. I get that it's all "omg you only need 1-of-n to preserve it!" but.... that's the old internet! and it decays at a rapid pace! there is no reason we should expect web3 1-of-n to be any different from what I can tell! ! ! ! https://x.com/emo_eth/status/1915459551165636766
founding or working on an early stage startup has always been -EV. If you're in it for the money, you're simply making a bad decision. It's closer to being an actor or musician than anything else

In general means being a founder or working for a startup will become this watered down term for a money losing profession.
In the 10s, a startup was a specific kind of business that used cloud computing and has zero marginal cost for the next unit of production.
Today, people are calling themselves founders of startups but the marginal cost of a unit once you including labor is higher than revenue. Many aren't paying themselves, so its just nepotism investment, founders living off family cash, for an app or a thing that has no chance of becoming viable. How's that not capital destructive?

Yes, the term "anticipatory nostalgia" describes the feeling of being nostalgic for the present moment, knowing you'll miss it in the future. It's the awareness of the fleeting nature of current experiences, creating a bittersweet appreciation as they happen.

1/ it wasn't the sitting president of the united states [corruption] and
2/ it wasn't happening immediately before insider unlocks [grift]
this is real utility! reminds me of my old idea for tswift / lady gaga should be selling NFTs of their songs and then lottery-ing backstage passes for concerts to the holders. These are the types of experiments that have the potential to make web3 great again imo
(i could never come up with a version that felt great for smaller artists -- randomized 1-1 calls or private small-group zoom performances -- but maybe it doesn't matter)

+ The tier we will need rather soon is $42,000 per month. (Jfc)
It’s pretty clear that startups should build Agents on FC to prove that they are worth funding to expand their Agents outside of FC. (Or, in the longer future, maybe startups just stay here forever :)

FCs tipping mechanism is the actual path forward re content monetization.
My preference would be a subscription where 50% of the monthly fee is split between my likes, RTs and Bookmarks (the other 50% goes to Merkle.
Mint the posts as collectibles and call it solved.

the word "fair" is loaded, and it's helpful to look to gaming to understand what fair generally means: people hate competing against machines (you see it in employment as well)
every [~successful? there aren't many afaik] onchain game thus far has either catered to bots, or inevitably succumbed to them
if you want _people_ to speculate around onchain launches, you need to find ways to exclude the bots. Typically it's a red-queen race though.. some jobs just aren't great for humans (relatively speaking), and people keep learning this the hard way
*taps the sign* market always wins

Sniped 22.8% of the supply for 0.5 ETH: https://basescan.org/tx/0xdb1aa76e78ff0f237021382c11dd190bd16d9fe4d98984ec1f62325833f8ac1a
Cashed out 120 ETH via bandemic.base.eth: https://basescan.org/tx/0xe55c3ac9a25a69e26aba65ad86e8c5c033960ef91f4d373d93b96ac8594de04b
Purchasing wallet appears to be fully automated/set up for sniping, has a near endless stream of failed txs; https://basescan.org/txs?a=0x099246ca997acf47ada682c9c60f9ed0954ad960&p=4
This is why you never see "fair launches" succeed without a level of admin-level access to blacklist snipers btw, or at least some basic/decentralized block 0 anti-sniper controls in place.
Never ever purchase an actual "fair launch", unless you yourself are a sniper. That meta is long since dead - it always ends with automated extraction on a massive scale.

my first experience of buying cointent was @blankspace's 'lower' bc i loved the image. flow was
- like content
- want to buy to support creator / own memento
- go to buy 'one' but i want to give blank more than pennies, buy some goofy large round number instead
- it blows up, wow its worth a bunch
- dont sell any bc i wanted to support and remember, not flip
- price tanks, wow that sucks i shouldve sold
- see it as a loss instead of what i bought it for
worth remembering that adding price adds all the negatives of bad price

speculation is fine (even good!), but _it must bridge a gap between fundamental sources and sinks_. Without a fundamental long-term sink, speculation chaotically bleeds to zero, every time.
If tokenized content is to work, someone has to do the hard work of designing a system with a real, large fundamental sink.

boosting this because i really want to know:
what's the most compelling "_definite_ optimist" take on content tokenization
i vaguely suspect that the tokenistas are right on a long timeline (just look at the trend to date), but i still personally haven't heard anyone make a great case for it. Arguments for it kind of remind me in ~2016 when everyone would talk about decentralized-uber as a killer ethereum use case because "uber takes so much value from the drivers/riders"
