Good read on the differences between @farcaster and X(Twitter). This table screenshot below says it all.
Smth I would really like to read for personal curiosity in the future @chinmay.eth (not saying you to do it :P) is to do some case studies on users. For ex users who switched to @farcaster and got bigger audience or big accounts on X that has almost none engagements here.

When I first joined @warpcast, I had zero followers and didn’t know anyone. I was simply posting for fun, sharing whatever I liked. Then I created the /japan channel—my first of many to come. I still vividly remember one of the earliest posts that stuck with me: a story @samantha shared about her in-laws in Spain and the cultural differences. Around that time, @christin was posting about zen and canned sardines and @pichii shared about Japan and sakura.
One day, I posted something about a food influencer, and to my surprise, @christin recasted it and followed me. That moment marked the beginning of my journey here. I got to know many great people building cool stuff and sharing feedback 1:1. I remember messaging @colin (still do) when a bug or smth happens on @paragraph. This level of openness can never happen in X.
And the best part was that when I met them on Farcon last year, they were exactly as they were online—genuine, open, and real. No shady, no pretense. Just good people being themselves.

A good thread on benefits of sauna in longevity and overall health.
When I was living in Tokyo, would go at least once a week and sometimes even more. I miss sauna so much now that I'm in California. Sauna in Japan is easy to access and doesn't break your bank :D

@samuellhuber.eth ahead of trend
I've been living in the Bay Area for some months now, especially the southern part, and I'm starting to feel like there’s not much to do on weekends. So far, I’ve explored a few farmers markets, walked around downtown Silicon Valley, and visited some shopping plazas. I’m curious—what do locals usually do for fun around here? Or is everyone just working all the time?
Please nm I just found the docs for the mini app, somehow I did not think of this. Sharing for the rest as well:

Mini apps are a big trend on Farcaster right now, and I’m curious to explore more. Where can I find a complete list of mini apps, and how can I add one to it? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

This was an interesting take on job interviews but it got me thinking how are dating apps doing currently. Do people still use it ? Or is declining more now that we are on internet nonstop and can cold dm people.

Recently interviewed the co-founders of the Kokudaka Project for my podcast — a local initiative in Japan that connects rice farming with blockchain. Based in Nishi-Aizu (Fukushima), the project lets farmers sell rice directly to consumers. NFT holders actually visit the paddies, help grow the rice, and join the harvest.
It’s a beautiful way to reconnect people with where their food comes from — and it couldn’t be more timely as Japan faces a rice shortage: https://pods.media/bee-curious/kokudaka-project-where-blockchain-meets-rice-farmers

I moved to Bay Area 3 months ago and I often hang with Japanese community here. I get compliments on the fact that I speak Japanese and that makes me really happy that I'm still able to practice it.
This reminded me that last year I wrote about how I learned Japanese and wanted to bring it back again.

Context. I should have posted the official mascot first. I hate him. It’s all the eyes and the weird tentacles on his arms. Normally butts are *cute* in Japan but his butt has an eye!!!!
I hate it. It’s not cute. It’s not adorable. I don’t want it.
I will be forced to buy some souvenir today to commemorate my visit and my hate. But I will do so reluctantly.

Den Fujita: The Hamburger King of Japan
"Management is ultimately a battle against efficiency"Den Fujita (藤田 田) was born in Osaka Prefecture in 1926. His name, "Den," was unique—chosen by his Christian mother in the hope that the kanji 田, resembling a mouth (口) and a cross (十), would bless him with eloquence. This kanji actually also means 'rice paddy'. His father, an electrical engineer for a British firm, was an outspoken critic of the war, closely monitored by military police. Okay some small confessions, I noticed something about store lighting and how much I spend (time and $).
->Shops with bright white lights feel cold and unwelcoming. I don’t stay long, and I buy less.
->But shops with warm, yellow lights feel cozy. I relax, take my time, and end up buying more.
At Walmart this weekend, the white lights made everything feel harsh. I just wanted to leave fast. So wondering how others feel about lighting in the interior design of the shops?

For newbies like me who want to look cool while ordering from In-N-Out’s “secret” menu, here’s a their secret menu—so you don’t end up embarrassingly asking for an “animal burger” instead of “animal style.”

Smth cool that @ted and @mcbain did last year in the /farcon was bringing the 'In and Out' burger and those bagels for breakfast, which I don't have photo unfortunately.
And the fun part is that as I felt not like a foreigner because @pichi introduces those good animal style burgers and Neapolitan shakes day before.

Hubby bought a takoyaki machine and we tested today, first batch was more watery because we add to much ginger and the second batch was just great.
I don’t know what this can be called because I wanted to make a tiramisu. So I ended up with a sponge cake and I layered it with dark chocolate and mascarpone instead. Also find it hard to find lady fingers for tiramisu in the US. Any idea where can I get them?

I don’t know if the best part of the Toto Museum is all the cool history I’m learning or the fact that the toilets in the building are the latest models so you can try before you buy.
Toto comes from Toyo Toki which translates to Oriental Ceramics. They were too ahead of their time in 1917 so started making ceramic dish ware first! After visiting the museum, I see why they’ve won award after award and had many of their items marked as national heritage items. Toto is used exclusively in almost every hotel and apartment I’ve ever stayed at and now I have a good reference for when it was last renovated due to the exhibits!

Osaka, what have you done to me. Why is there a special limited edition collaboration with the Osaka Metro goshuincho to collect special Metro Goshuin over the the next 6 months! I had a plan for today! Why you do this to me?
Made an experiment yesterday heated up goat milk and added cow yoghurt- ended up with very thin liquid yoghurt. Still very good if you ask me, but not sure what to call it goat yoghurt or cow?
